Ankeny Centrennial High School slipped past Cedar Falls last night to make it to the 5A State Tournament once again. They were led by the usual suspects, Seniors like [player_tooltip player_id='1307660' first='Rylyn' last='Boeding']. Boeding chipped in for 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists in her efforts. She kept multiple plays alive with her ability on the boards and she wasn't afraid to take contact to earn an opportunity or three at the charity stripe. All of these stats were crucial in the end. When the final buzzer sounded AC won by 5 because they out-scored CF by 6 in the 4th quarter. They put together multiple stops and that led to success on the other side of the floor. Next week in DSM the Jaguars will gets the tough task of facing Johnston in Round #1.

Last night against Iowa City Liberty Fincham put up an impressive stat line of 24 points (9/16), 8 rebounds, and 5 assists to lead her team to victory. This included going 4/5 from behind the three point line and 2/2 from the foul stripe. This game was a battle. It was physical battle back and forth with both groups being beat up pretty thoroughly. It was close in the fourth and the Trojans just happen to pull up it. Fincham continues to prove herself this season to anyone watching from afar. She is going to be at the top of the scouting report for opposing teams moving forward so now it's all about how she adapts individually and as a team in real time.

It's nice to see [player_tooltip player_id='1092007' first='Sadie' last='McCann'] stepping up to play to her full capabilities as of late for the Wolves of Waukee NW. McCann led her group with 15 points (6/10), 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in her team's 41 point W yesterday. She made simple work of the Pleasant Valley defense, navigating around for success on both sides of the ball, eventually making plays with ease. McCann is known as a multiple-level scoring CG with great efficiency and smarts so it comes as no surprise to those who have seen her play for a National AAU Title the past few years. The Wolves are one of those team's that could make a run during the next week if they play their cards right. If they take care of business and their prospects like McCann do their thing, they are going to be in a great spot moving into the end of next week when it comes to the Semi's and Finals.

23 & 9. That is the stat line that [player_tooltip player_id='880913' first='Kelli' last='Kalb'] posted to lead the Johnston Dragons last night against Indianola. With the Dragons it's always a team effort. That's what makes them dangerous against any opponent. You never know who is going to go off along side [player_tooltip player_id='557354' first='Jenica' last='Lewis']. Well last night it was a number of players but primarily Kalb. She led her team in scoring while doing it efficiently and crashing the boards hard. That's what you love to see out a promising future D1 commit. Johnston is the team to beat in 5A once again next week. They will start off 5A action on Monday morning at 10AM against AC and from there we will see what happens.

Williams accomplished a few things last night at Ankeny High School. She scored 23 points to give her the most points scored in a single season ever by a player of Ankeny High School. In these efforts, Ankeny also ended up winning the game to send them to State for the first time since Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial split up as schools. These are two incredible accomplishments but the job is not done. They should be proud but not satisfied. Williams was unguardable against the defenders that SC East threw at her last night. Now it's time to see how she does when the lights are the brightest next week.
