grow over the past four years and she ended off her high school career on a high note as a top producer within the 1A Class in DSM. Underwood, the lengthy Forward, is going to be taking her talents to D2 – Wayne State to follow this season and she is ready to make her mark within that program as a contributor. She has been someone that her Saintes team has been able to rely in down by the bucket for awhile now and by the looks of it she is ready for a new challenge. Over her two games this past week she averaged a double-double of 13.5 PPG-13.5 RPG, while also dishing out 2 APG and stuffing 2 BPG back into her opponent’s faces when the opportunities presented themselves. St. Albert will return a few next year from this cast but they are going to need to find a new main source of production on both ends. Whoever it is has a tall task but I’m sure they will be up for the challenge.

St. Albert will have another solid shot to bring home another State Title over the next week if they just worry about going 1-0 every game. They dominated Coon Rapids-Bayard by 20 points on Wednesday, showing everyone watching that they mean business. The best overall player for the Saintes in this showing was their SF –

. Underwood ended with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 blocks, and 3 steals. If you know Underwood’s game, it’s mainly by the bucket. She can step out to do other things but with this team, they need her to navigate the middle like a pro. She did that last season, she had some guard help back her up, and because of that they won the 1A Title. If they want to repeat that winning formula, their main producers are going to have to play lights-out. Something that is definitely do-able looking at their path ahead.

of St. Albert is the reason that I think that the Saintes can make a run and become back2back 1A State Champions this Spring if some things fall their way. Underwood, the Wayne State WBB commit, had a 24 & 24 game last year in the State Title game, showing you what she can really do when she is given ample opportunities under the hoop. This group is one that thrives off of team play so in no way is Underwood their only hooper on roster but she is the most impactful. Her play directly correlates to her team’s success. That has been proven over the past 3.5 years at the Varsity level and you can’t say that for most others out there.

is going to show that she recorded a double-double in Posts-Rebounds but that really doesn’t tell the whole story. Underwood was their source of production in the middle. Rebounding, taking it coast to coast, and making plays down the stretch. At one point St. Albert was down 10 points in the third and that’s when Underwood stepped up to handle business. She took several rebounds the length of the floor for easy looks in transition, she found through contact on almost every possession between the blocks, and she played relentless with every opportunity set in front of her. This wasn’t the best showing I’ve seen from Underwood but it’s still a solid one, that she could hang her hat on moving forward.

is a SF that has been doing her part once again this Winter at St. Albert High School after coming off of a 1A State Title last season. Underwood is someone with some length at 6’0. She primary works in between the blocks and in the paint but she is always mobile enough to move wherever she might need to go in the blink of an eye. When you look at St. Albert on the scouting report, Underwood is at the top. If you can’t stop her underneath, it’s going to be a long night cause that’s just the start of it for this group when they compete. Underwood might be their anchor, leader, and a main producer on both ends but she knows how to make her mark without scoring the rock and that is what makes their group tough to stop. It’s going to be fun come Playoff time in a few short months and I can’t wait to see how prospects like Underwood do when the lights are the brightest once again.

is looking to make one last big run this upcoming Winter with St. Albert High School after coming off of a record setting performance last Winter in the 1A State Title game. Underwood finished the game off as the MVP, securing over 20 Points and 20 Rebounds in her efforts underneath. This Winter St. Albert will bring in some help to pair with her under the hoop in a transfer so as long as they can play off of each other, they should be a tough group to stop in general while Underwood continues to put up impressive numbers as the season moves forward.

Nebraska Supreme made it pretty far in the Select 24 Bracket Play and a big reason for that was the play of SF – Avah Underwood. Underwood has controlled the paint each contest on both ends. Offensively she is making her easy opportunities by the bucket on both blocks, while limiting her dribbles and time of possession. Defensively, Underwood has been someone opponents have to worry about. If not, it’s a blocked or alter attempts by the defense. Wayne State secured a good prospect in Underwood for their future. If she continues to stay motivated in this game, she is going produce at the next level before you know it.

. Underwood is starting to stack offers. She has a growing pile that is getting more and more impressive by the week during this Spring season. Underwood was most recently offered by D2 – Wayne State to compete following her high school career at St. Albert’s in Council Bluffs. Underwood has the size you can’t teach, a high motor, and a willingness to sacrifice for what she really wants. Underwood is the definition of dedicated. She wants to be the best version of herself, never taking a break and always trying to learn. She will be a D2 commit at the end of the day but now it just depends where. Like I said, she has options and she isn’t in a rush so I’m sure she will make the right choice for herself all in due time.

Underwood played her role this weekend and made a difference on both ends with her mixture of length, coordination, and wherewithal. On multiple occasions, Underwood was instructed to guard the opposing team’s best post presence and time and time again, she held her own and made some respectable plays underneath. When it came down to the final minutes of her contest, this is someone that made plays consistently to help her team win the game. This is a big AAU season for Underwood. She has a lot of collegiate interest after coming off of being the 1A POTY in Iowa. If she continues to grow in her play-style, the sky is the limit with how dedicated she is.

put together a State Tournament to remember last week as she was named the Captain of the 1A All State Tournament Team. Underwood, a 6’0 SF, primary works out of the post and mid-post whenever she has the option to. She likes to catch with her back to the basket, finishing with or without contact on either side of the bucket. She can catch at the free-throw line and attack off the dribble. All while working on her midrange and three point pull up game at a steady rate. Other than scoring, Underwood stands out as a player with a high motor when it comes to rebounding and defending. She is someone that others have to worry about when they attack off the dribble toward the basket. I have this as a D2 prospect at this time. If she gets in front of the right eyes this Summer, she is going to be someone that picks up a lot of interest in a short amount of time.
