This was a staple game for [player_tooltip player_id='524262' first='Sydney' last='Doeschot'] of Hinton High School. Doeschot started things off slow in the first half as more of a facilitator but she followed that up with a monster 3rd and 4th quarter in the scoring column. Doeschot was doing it all from the PG position. She was getting to the bucket at Will off the bounce and finishing through contact in plethora of different ways, she was using her team's pick and roll offense to get easy assists to her post players on the blocks, she was jumping the passing lanes on defense out of her team's 3-2 zone for consistent disruption, and she was playing with a ton of confidence and energy overall. Rock Valley proved throughout this one that they were not going to go down without a fight. When that happened, this team looked to Doeschot or [player_tooltip player_id='582808' first='Bailey' last='Boeve'] down-low and both of those prospects delivered time-and-time again to lock in the victory when the final buzzer sounded.

I love the overall play-style that [player_tooltip player_id='582807' first='Haevyn' last='Ranschau'] competes with when she takes the floor. She demonstrated from start to finish in this contest that she is a three level scoring threat offensively and she has an act for getting her hands on the ball on the defensive side of things as well. From the start, Ranschau was hitting three's from deep. Once she made a few of those and the defense starting to over-play her shot, she moved right by everyone off the dribble for simple finishes at the rim off the attack once she got downhill. She also did a great job of being a distributor, slasher, and producer with her movement when she didn't have possession of the rock. When everything was said and done, Haevyn definitely showed out as her team's most complete prospect in this battle. It was a close one down to the end and this is possibly a preview for a State matchup down the road if both programs play their cards rights.

[player_tooltip player_id='582808' first='Bailey' last='Boeve'] is back and she is going to be a problem for any other 2A teams that try to matchup with Hinton the rest of this season. Hinton keeps Boeve in the middle within their action. Throughout the night she mainly posted up on either block with her back to the basket or she was put into screening action at the top of the key and then told to work off of that. Sometimes she would get the ball from 15FT out and work towards the middle off the dribble and sometimes she would seal the player she screened, getting all the way to the bucket off of her rolling action, eventually getting a pass for an easy finish within 2-3FT. There were multiple times in this game that she caught on the block. She was then double teamed and she still ended up scoring through two defenders with the contact. This just reminds you of the strength and athletic ability that Boeve competes with. Defensively, she was just as noteworthy. She consistently made plays under the hoop by altering shots that opponents tried to put up from the lane. If not, she would still rebound the ball with a calculated aggression. All in all, this Hinton group is going to be hard to beat this Winter come Playoff time if prospects like Boeve play to their full capabilities like they did tonight.

It was hard for [player_tooltip player_id='592200' first='Hudsyn' last='Ranschau'] to find her shot in the first half of this one but she single handedly kept her team in this game down the stretch because of all the shots she hit in the second half from deep. Ranschau has unlimited range of the catch. Her team runs some great, 5-out cutting action on offense and that gives their shoots ample opportunities. Every time that Hinton got a little bit of a lead towards the end of the game, Rock Valley slowed them down with a three point by one of their starting guards. (Usually Ranschau.) Her lightning quick trigger and willingness to let it go from anywhere was impressive and that is going to translate to the next level in a big one once she gets there following this Senior season.

The other guard for Hinton that I was really impressed with was [player_tooltip player_id='1213363' first='Addison' last='Glass']. I always knew that Glass had a good feel for the game but she really showed that she could lead this Hinton program in a close game, if need be. There were multiple times throughout when Glass caught the ball and attacked her defender off the dribble demonstrating a great feel for the game when the rock is in her possession. All in all, Glass moves effortlessly and she has great size at 5'10 while competing as a CG to give her a natural advantage against smaller opponents. She looked like one of the most skilled players on the floor all night long and that's saying something with who was competing along side her.

An unsung hero for Hinton is [player_tooltip player_id='1143197' first='Keely' last='Derochie']. Derochie is a SF, that handles the middle of her team's zone on defense. Derochie is the one that is tasked with communicating everything to her teammates that was happening around them. Being located in the middle of the lane, she has the best vantage point to shootout what is going on and she did a respectable job of that tonight as Rock Valley didn't get any action in the paint for the most part other than early on. Derochie is the type to compete with a lot of energy. She is always pumping up those around her and we saw that multiple times tonight once she made a big stop. To win a State Title it's all hands on deck so it's crucial that Derochie continues to do what she does on the defensive end for this squad. She made an impact tonight and that impact helped them win the game.
