Region 7-AA: Kingstree vs. Atlantic Collegiate

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For what it was worth, Tuesday evening's contest on the Grand Strand between Kingstree and Atlantic Collegiate would practically decide the region even though both teams were already shoo-ins for tournament play.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both Armada and Blazers were already ranked in the top 10 of the most recent 2A coaches' poll. In fact, both were in the top five. Atlantic Collegiate was ranked second (only behind Clinton) and Kingstree was ranked fourth. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The last contest between these two 2A powers occurred in mid-January when the Armada got the better of the Blazers in what was a low-scoring get-together. Atlantic Collegiate defeated Kingstree by a final score of 32-27.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops made the trek to Atlantic Collegiate for the most recent contest between these two teams. An 18-point performance from the Atlantic Collegiate freshman was instrumental in the Armada's 51-37 victory to claim a region championship. It was in the second half of play when Williams really made her presence known as she scored 15 of her 18 in the final pair of frames. What she got accomplished off the bench was instrumental in placing plenty of distance between the Armada and its Kingstree adversaries. She displayed once again why she has given such a boost to Atlantic Collegiate to the tune of 17 points against a tough out in Kingstree. Capers displays how quick she can be on her feet with her ability to switch defensive assignments and match whoever she is defending step for step and move for move. She still managed to help her team by virtue of eight points. Blackmon stands at 5-foot-7 and can be placed in a team's starting five either playing point or operating at the two. Attacking the basket and finishing strong is among the many strong areas of her game. There will be occasions where that skill will result in her drawing contact and taking her chances at the free throw line. The Armada picked up the win but Shaw did not make it easy as her 14 points displayed. With the number of rebounds she can bring down, opposing teams do not get a large number of second-chance points against the Blazers. She can play with her back to the basket and will call for the ball when she is confident she can make a play. She concluded her evening at Atlantic Collegiate having added eight points to the Blazers' cause. Mosley certainly stands out on the veteran-centric team that is Kingstree – she is one of six that is part of Kingstree's 2026 graduating class. A backcourt beast for the Blazers, she can operate in a team's lineup either at the point or as a shooting guard. In addition to her scoring prowess, she is one of the Blazers' leaders in steals and assists. McCrea added to Kingstree's efforts with seven points. She is primarily recognized on her team for her rebounding and her defense as she is one of the Blazers' leaders in steals. Out of the seven points she did score, five occurred in the first half. McCrea was the Kingstree scoring leader at the half when the Blazers only trailed the Armada by three (19-16).
