While the matchup included several established household names who delivered as expected, the game also highlighted the depth of emerging talent within the conference. My attention was drawn in particular to the play of several young rising stars, reinforcing why the WCAC remains the strongest high school conference in the country.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rising Cadets:</h2>    <p>Anaiah took full advantage of her expanded role in Saturday's nationally ranked matchup, showing clear signs that the high school game is beginning to slow down for her. She displayed strong versatility as both a floor general and a playmaker, managing the pace of the game with poise. As the primary point guard, she effectively controlled the offense by recognizing when to attack the rim and when to create opportunities for teammates, consistently delivering timely assists.</p>   <p>On the defensive end, Anaiah's effort and physicality stood out. That level of competitiveness and selflessness is clearly recognized and valued by Coach Scribner and the coaching staff.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Zoe logged meaningful minutes in Sunday's game and showed encouraging signs as a primary ball handler. She played with pace while remaining under control in the open court, keeping her dribble alive and her head up as she looked to create for teammates or capitalize on scoring opportunities.</p>   <p class="text-gray-700">A traditional pass-first point guard by nature, Zoe also flashed the ability to get to the basket when plays broke down, highlighting her developing confidence and versatility at the position.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mustang Revving Up:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Tegan established her dominant defensive presence early against St. John's as the Mustangs' primary rim protector. She consistently challenged shots in the paint, blocking at least three attempts that would typically result in easy layups. Her timing and positioning disrupted St. John's interior offense throughout the game.</p>   <p class="text-gray-700">This performance reflects Tegan's continued growth and comfort within her role on the nation's top-ranked team, where her defensive impact remains a key component of their success.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tartan on the Rise:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Kennedy plays with consistent energy and has emerged as the Tartans' floor general. Her resilience was tested in the first half when she went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury. Despite the setback, she returned in the second half and made an immediate impact with several tough drives late in the shot clock.</p>   <p class="text-gray-700">Kennedy showed strong body control by changing speeds and redirecting to create scoring opportunities under pressure. Performances like this continue to elevate her profile, and she is a player to watch in upcoming rankings.</p>
