Stats, all-conference honors, and even all-state awards do not hold true value in these movements. Once again, the quality of the competition matters, and how players perform when the level rises carries far more weight in these evaluations. Below are some of the top guards to follow in the AAU Season.</h3>    Benson made an immediate impact on her high school program this year. Even with the typical freshman growing pains, there were plenty of moments where you could see where her talent can take her. With nothing but time on her side, Kennedy has a strong foundation to continue developing into one of the more notable guards in this class. If you're following Example this upcoming season, she needs to be near the top of your list.     It was my first time seeing Lamb live during the state finals, and she didn't disappoint. She's a headhunter type guard who has no issue attacking the paint and forcing defenders to deal with contact. She still has plenty of time to continue rounding out her overall skillset, but with the aggression that's already there, she's definitely one to keep on your radar.     The offensive skillset has been talked about all season, but what continues to stand out to me is her growth on the defensive side. As a freshman, you're not expected to be a lockdown defender, especially when your minutes are coming at the varsity level, but Eva's ability to recover and still contest even when she's beat says a lot. That shows heart and the want to become a strong defender. When both sides of the ball even out, which I have no doubt will happen, the big offers will roll in. High potential.     Regardless of the limited opportunity this year due to being part of a heavy upperclassmen program, there's still no doubt about her talent. She's an even-keeled guard who can both score and facilitate at a strong level. She also has the frame and agility to show that same aggression on the defensive end of the floor, and as that continues to develop we should see more of her impact during the high school season.     The length, confidence, and versatility were key in Jones having a strong freshman season. Her skill set isn't flashy or over the top. It's simple, effective, and there's rarely any hesitation when she decides to go get a bucket. Outside of her scoring ability, she also shows good passing IQ as a playmaker. There's a strong foundation there for her to develop into one of the top guards in this class. Strong upside.
