Expert Analysis

Benson has continued to show growth in her development and in her stature. I believe she is a bit taller than she was during the high school season, and if she continues on that path, you’re looking at a good sized guard who can switch in and out of scoring and running the show. She’s one of the best guards in her class.

Kennedy has received praise from multiple PGH scouts from different states during her opening campaign at the high school level and I’m excited to see her compete with Example Sports UAA 15U. Her three-point shooting, second-gear off the dribble in transition, slashing abilities, and defensive impact sound like game changing qualities that will be exciting to watch at the Great Lakes Kickoff.

Benson made an immediate impact on her high school program this year. Even with the typical freshman growing pains, there were plenty of moments where you could see where her talent can take her. With nothing but time on her side, Kennedy has a strong foundation to continue developing into one of the more notable guards in this class. If you’re following Example this upcoming season, she needs to be near the top of your list.

Butler will be going into next year without an ESPN recruit on their program as of now.. Benson has been showing all the qualities of a player who can keep the program competitive. Her ability to score, her craftiness, and overall the energy on the court show maturity and readiness.

While it was not her best statistical game, she was asked to do a lot for her team, playing point guard against one of the state’s best senior guards. After some early miscues, she settled down and got her team good shots. As the game went on she looked more comfortable. She will be a very good player as she continues to gain experience, and in game development will help that trajectory. These early challenges will accelerate her growth long term.

Benson has been a bright spot for the Butler program this year and has shown that she’s fit to be the focal point of the team in the future when a majority of the talent graduates this spring. She is a high energy guard who truly plays both sides of the ball and can swing a game simply off of her aggression. Major upside.

Benson has a nice outside shot, and stretches the defense with her ability to shoot from 3-point range. She can score very quickly off turnovers as she just made back to back layups! Her defense and hustle on fast breaks are helping the team make a run these last few minutes of the game.

Benson will easily be one of the best guards in this class this year, especially playing for a program that will utilize her in a multitude of ways. She can be your offensive threat when called on, but will for sure cause issues on the defensive side, which could be her calling card this season. A player to keep an eye on.

It’s already been stamped that Benson is the starting guard for BCP this season, which means she’s already won the trust of her coaches, which now just allows her to play and figure it out as she goes. She has a solid mix of fundamentals now, but as she gets older and different competition is thrown at her, I’m sure she’ll be able to adjust on the fly and develop at a quicker rate.
