Players to Watch in Class 3 and 4 State Finals

The final day of the VHSL girls basketball season arrives Saturday with the Class 4 championship matchup between Salem and Manor and the Class 3 title game featuring Abingdon and Skyline. While team matchups will determine champions, the stage is equally set for standout individual performances. Several players entering these finals have been instrumental in their teams' postseason runs, producing in big moments in the state and regional play. From elite scorers and floor generals to defensive disruptors and rebounders, these athletes will be key figures in deciding final outcomes of the season.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class 4 State Championship: Salem vs. Manor, 11am</h2>   Salem    Crawley brings perimeter scoring and energy to Salem's lineup. She is a confident shooter who can knock down three-pointers off the dribble and thrives using screens to create clean looks along the wing. In Salem's 42-34 state semifinal win over Hampton, Crawley showcased her ability to pull up from the top of the key and space the floor with her shot-making. She's shifty with the ball in her hands and knows how to create separation on the perimeter before rising into a jumper. When Crawley finds her rhythm, her confidence and intensity quickly translate into momentum for the entire team.     Custer provides Salem with size and a strong interior presence. The forward thrives in transition, consistently running the floor and positioning herself ahead of the ball to create scoring opportunities. During the semifinal victory over Hampton, Custer showed excellent awareness on fast breaks, cutting into open lanes and finishing at the rim. She angles her body well to receive passes in stride and quickly convert around the basket. Her ability to finish through contact and capitalize on transition opportunities makes her a valuable offensive weapon.     Rider impacts the game on both ends, particularly with her defensive instincts. She anticipates passing lanes well and is active in disrupting offensive flow, often turning steals into transition opportunities. In Salem's semifinal win, Rider hustled back in transition, read plays developing ahead of time, and forced multiple turnovers. Once she secures the ball, she looks too push the tempo but also shows patience when the numbers aren't in her favor. Her defensive pressure and ability to contribute across multiple statistical categories make her a key all-around presence.    Manor    Babb has played a major role in Manor's run to the state championship. The Region 4A Player of the Year led the Mustangs with 22 points in their 62-30 semifinal win over Heritage. Babb combines speed, athleticism, and strong finishing ability, scoring on fast breaks whether pushing the ball herself or running the floor to receive a pass. She also knocked down perimeter shots and pulled up for three during the semifinal performance. Beyond scoring, Babb acts as a facilitator who communicates with teammates, organizes the offense, and finds open shooters.     Brown brings versatility and composure to Manor's backcourt. She scored 21 points in the semifinal win over Heritage, demonstrating her ability to contribute both as a scorer and playmaker. Brown pushes the pace in transition and is comfortable pulling up from the wing for a three-pointer. She reads the floor well, delivering skip passes to open teammates and keeping the offense flowing through ball movement. Her ability to anticipate plays, secure loose balls, and contribute on both ends makes her a key two-way presence.     Jones anchors Manor's interior defense and rebounding efforts. In the semifinal victory, she recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while also adding 3 blocks. Jones also surpassed 500 career rebounds, highlighting her consistency on the glass. She uses her length effectively to contest and alter shots in the paint and plays an important role in the team's full-court pressure defense. Her hustle for rebounds and second-chance opportunities gives Manor valuable possessions on both ends.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class 3 State Championship: Abingdon vs. Skyline, 4:30pm</h2>   Abingdon    Trivette enters the Class 3 state final as one of the most dominant players on the floor. The NC State signee combines strength, size, and versatility to impact the gam both inside and on the perimeter. Trivette delivered a standout 34-point performance in Abingdon's 62-49 state semifinal win over Hopewell, repeatedly breaking through the defense and scoring from multiple areas on the court. She can power through defenders in the paint but also stretch defenses with her perimeter scoring ability. Her scoring runs throughout the postseason have consistently helped Abingdon maintain control of games.     Baker has been a consistent leader for Abingdon throughout her career. A four-year starter, Baker recently reached the 1,000-point milestone earlier this season. Her experience and poise at the point guard position have helped guide the Falcons through multiple deep postseason runs. Baker's motivation to return to the state's biggest stage has been evident after helping Abingdon reach the Final Four as a sophomore. As the team's floor general, her decision-making and leadership will be critical in the championship matchup.    Skyline    Diamond has been a catalyst for Skyline all season with her all-around production. The Region 3B Player of the Year averages 13.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 5.0 steals per game. Diamond delivered a game-high 19 points in Skyline's 59-54 semifinal win over Spotswood, scoring key baskets late to seal the victory. She also recorded a triple-double in the Region 3B championship with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 steals. Diamond's ability to score, create for teammates, and disrupt opponents defensively makes her one of the most impactful players in the Class 3 final.     Bunch adds scoring and playmaking to Skyline's balanced lineup. The guard averages 8.8 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 steals per game while contributing on both ends of the floor. In the semifinal win over Spotswood, Bunch helped shift momentum with a three-pointer that gave Skyline its first lead of the game. Her ability to knock down perimeter shots and facilitate offense helps keep defenses stretched. Bunch's production complements Skyline's lineup and provides another scoring option.     Logan brings strong rebounding and interior presence despite being one of the younger players in the lineup. She averages 9.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. Logan delivered a dominant rebounding performance with 19 boards in the Region 3B championship win over James Monroe while adding 13 points. During a key stretch late in the third quarter, she scored four points to help Skyline take the lead. Her activity around the rim and ability to contribute across multiple areas makes her a valuable piece of the Hawks' lineup.     Scriva provides scoring and experience for Skyline as a senior leader. She averages 11.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. Scriva reached the 1,000-point milestone earlier this month during Skyline's state quarterfinal win over Lake Taylor. In the Region 3B championship game, she delivered several key plays late, including a three-pointer and a driving layup that gave Skyline the lead for good. Her ability to score in crucial moments has been an important factor in Skyline's postseason success.     Taliyah anchors Skyline's rebounding and interior presence. She averages 11.7 points and an area-best 9.4 rebounds per game, providing consistent production in the paint. Along with Camilla Diamond, she was named Class 3 Northwestern District Co-Player of the Year. Taliyah's rebounding helps Skyline control possessions and create second-chance opportunities. Her physical presence and scoring ability inside add another dimension to the Hawks' balanced lineup heading into the state final.
