Raymond Kellis came into the Playoffs playing pretty well, but after their initial loss in the first round of the Open Division Playoffs to Campo Verde, they went on a roll and really hit their stride in the 5A Championship game. They were the better team in all areas, offense, defense , and rebounding. [player_tooltip player_id='758872' first='Luz' last='Marian Santos Mas'] was named Tournament MVP, but here were significant contributions from other players including [player_tooltip player_id='971358' first='Nelly' last='Walker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='660218' first='Shanielle' last='Mallory']. Here are some of the standouts from the 5A Title Game.

[player_tooltip player_id='758872' first='Luz' last='Marian Santos Mas'] was electrifying in the 5A Title Game. Her athleticism was on display as she was scoring early and often from mid range and drives to the basket. She also was extremely aggressive on the offensive and defensive boards which provided Kellis many 2nd chance opportunities. She also showed an incredible ability to get into transition and run the floor like a guard. She is a good passer and defender. She is definitely a college level player.

[player_tooltip player_id='971358' first='Nelly' last='Walker'] was outstanding in the Title game. She was very calm and poised for a Sophomore, and was not intimidated by the big stage. She scored on drives to the basket on several occasions and she also showed the ability to shoot from 3 point range. She is a fierce defender that can guard multiple positions. She is strong for a guard, and she is lightning quick in transition. Look for Walker to be a highly recruited player in the near future.

It took a little while for [player_tooltip player_id='660218' first='Shanielle' last='Mallory'] to get going in the 5A State Championship game, but once she did, you could tell she was the best player on the floor. She earned the 5A Northwest Valley Player of the Year honors earlier this month, and she showed why especially in the 2nd half. She played more with the ball in her hand and she started to get her scoring going. She is a great shooter from all 3 levels and she is also a good facilitator. She makes good decisions with the ball, and when they needed her experience to finish the game off, she came through as she was the focal point of the offense late in the game.

Avery Olson was excellent for Horizon during their playoff run to the Title game. She is an excellent athlete that can play multiple positions both offensively and defensively. She has a nice touch around the basket and is an excellent offensive rebounder. Defensively, she is a force in the middle that can alter shots and rebound. Olson is very active for a Center and will continue to get better as her career moves forward.
