Unsung Contributors: Key Performers in 1A and 2A Semifinals

While the Osprey Nest was rocking and the spotlight was shining on the leading scorers and game changer, there were other prospects playing in the "nest" who were impactful beyond the box score. During the FHSAA Class 1A and 2A semifinals, several players stepped up with some impressive performances - strong defensive efforts, double-double efforts, timely buckets and efforts that help shape the outcome. These performances weren't recognized as the top performances in the semifinals, but they were essential to their teams' overall effort and success.    [player_tooltip player_id='633529' first='Mia' last='Chandler'] delivered one of the most productive efforts of the game with a double-double performance, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds. She was active around the basket all night, showing a strong motor on the glass and creating second-chance opportunities for her team. Chandler did a nice job of battling and competing until the end. Her ability to control the glass and provide interior presence made her one of the most impactful players of the game.     Kami Ellis quietly played a key role in Miami Country Day's semifinal win, finishing with 9 points while contributing across the stat sheet with 3 assists and 4 steals. A year ago, Ellis's effort was the deciding factor in the semifinals when she went off from behind the three-point line in clutch moments. She provided strong perimeter defense and showed good instincts, jumping passing lanes to create transition opportunities. The contest was marred by turnovers. Ellis recorded 4 and created others. Ellis knocked down three and kept the offense flowing. Her two-way effort and defensive activity were key, and once again, Ellis and company find themselves in the 2A Finals.     [player_tooltip player_id='515056' first='Lorena' last='Faber'] quietly provided valuable frontcourt minutes and did the little things that helped stabilize Holy Trinity's interior presence. She started the game off with a beautiful baseline jumper and finished with 5 points and 4 rebounds, showing solid positioning around the basket and good activity on the glass. Faber's effort against [player_tooltip player_id='1207160' first='Nalah' last='Smith'] was noteworthy. Smith connected on 19 points, but Faber was one of the matchups who made Smith work for it. Faber gives Holy Trinity reliable depth in the paint and a defender who is very competitive.     [player_tooltip player_id='1550029' first='Seve' last='Armstead'] showed poise and ability well beyond her years. Armstead's ability to handle the rock against immense pressure was outright impressive. Armstead faced full-court man-to-man for most of the game, and her change of direction, change of speed, and pace allowed her to handle it. The young guard delivered some nice plays in transition and ran the offense like a floor general.     [player_tooltip player_id='1201829' first='Sawsan' last='Kamara'] kept fighting to the end and gave her team a double-digit scoring effort with 11 points and kept fighting to the end. Kamara is a three-level scorer who can shoot the three and a respectable clip and also stop and pop in the mid-range area. She can also handle the ball and finished the semifinals with 3 assists and a lot of plays that set up assists with ball handling and the ability to instinctively read the defense.     [player_tooltip player_id='1266904' first='Dailin' last='Delgado'] competed for the entire game and spent a lot of time getting up off the floor. There was some physical play going on in the semifinals, but the young guard didn't appear to be phased by it. Delgado played a key role in press break and her ability to attack defenses and set up teammates for shots was impressive. Delgado finished the game with 6 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
