Munoz just wrapped up her sophomore season and the future continues to look bright for her. She brought her career totals to 546 points, 260 rebounds and 263 steals. She is a very impactful two way guard who continues to show out. Munoz led Nogales into the 5A state playoffs the number 6 seed. She averaged 11.8 points, 3.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 5.7 steals per game. She is a force defender you is simply unphased by opposing guards. She has great speed and tremendous court vision. She continues to develop into a great player and no question she'll start to gain the right attention in her junior and senior tears.

Smith had a great season that had her lead The Hawks to the 1A State Play-In where they fell short of advancing. Smith was tremendous on both sides of the ball. She had multiple points+steals double doubles throughout the season including one of her top performances against the Hayden Lobos where she finished with 22 points and 13 steals. On the season Smith averaged 11.2 points, 1.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 6 steals per game. She was voted on to the 1A South All Region First Team.

Although Wilmore had a very limited role with the Lancers this season you can see her skill and IQ are above many in her class. She is very good defensively, has great footwork and can move very quickly laterally making it difficult for opposing guards to advance. She handles the ball well through pressure and makes great reads. Plays every possession with passion and hustles. During her freshman season with the very talented Lancers team Wilmore showed she has great potential and will definitely make a case as one of the top if not the top guard in Southern Arizona in her class.

The Sophomore found herself on the honorable mention list for what was a stacked 4A Kino region. Berg has made strides in her game over the last year and is becoming a more confident leader on the court. This season Berg averaged 6.6 points, 2.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. A strong ball handler who gets her paint touches and can play through contact. Hustles and makes plays. Has a high percentage mid range and can shoot from the perimeter as well. Moves with purpose on the floor. Berg is developing into a very good prospect in the 2028 class.

Meyer has a very cool and calm look but is a menace on the court. Plays well defensively, applying pressure and forcing opposition into uncomfortable situations. Reads and reacts quickly. Great in transition keeping her spacing. Can shoot lights out from beyond the arc. She had her best shooting performances against a top two team in their conference. Meyer dropped 30 points shooting 10 of 17 (59%) from beyond the arc against #2 Pueblo. On the season she averaged 10 points, 1.7 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. She was selected to first team all region this season after helping the Falcons secure the 5A Sonoran Region Championship and a top 5 ranking in state. Meyer, still with two years left will be vital for the success of the Falcons for the next two years.

Another sophomore making the list is Sunnyside guard Rayanna Ortiz. Ortiz earned a starting role with a tough and talented Blue Devils squad who found themselves with the third ranking in the 6A State Playoffs. Ortiz earned second team all 6A South Region honors while helping the Blue Devils secure another region championship. This season Ortiz averaged 4.9 points, 1.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals. She had her best game of the season against Gila Ridge where she came just shy of a double double finishing with 13 points, 3 assists and 9 steals. Ortiz has come up with some clutch play making for the Blue Devils. A guard who will continue a high level development under Coach Delgado at Sunnyside.

Lopez has been great to watch this season. I had the opportunity to watch her and the Cienega Bobcats play a few times this season and the consistent things I've seen with Lopez is that she plays every possession with everything she has, she doesn't back down from any opponents, she puts her team first. Very unselfish player. Shes quick on defense and will blow by everyone after stealing the ball. She makes the hustle plays. She averaged 6.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game for the Bobcats. Lopez is one to watch heading into her senior season.

A player flying heavily under the radar is Sahuaro sophomore Jordynn Chavis. Chavis was a strong contributor for the Cougars all season and made some great shots in clutch situations this season. A strong two way player who was very impactful on both ends. Chavis averaged 11.2 points, 2.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 3 steals per game. Chavis had a breakout game against Scottsdale Saguaro where she finished with 24 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. She earned honorable mention in a very talented 4A Kino region. Expect to read a lot about Chavis these next couple years.
