Potential Rank Risers: 2027 Shooting Guards

Going into their final school seasons, there are a ton of players in the class of 2027 who can make one last push up the Prep Girls Hoops rankings. Here are five shooting guards ranked outside the top 75 of their class who could do the following.    Sharpshooting clearly runs in the Montgomery family.   The sister, [player_tooltip player_id='822288' first='MJ' last='Montgomery'], of one of the better players in the boys' basketball program, has seen in Jett Montgomery, is coming off an impressive third year of high school hoops. Her shooting from distance was her skill that stood out the most, with her punishing opposing defenses routinely by making multiple shots from long range.   Montgomery can shoot from everywhere on the floor and is most dangerous as a shooter off the catch. On the wings, she is more than comfortable making shots well off the perimeter. Montgomery also notably, about midway through the 2025-2026 school season, was shooting 41% from the 3-point line.     [player_tooltip player_id='878750' first='Freedom' last='Pfeil'] has all the skills in the world to move up in the Prep Girls Hoops rankings.   Pfeil has some elite dribbling skills. With these moves, she is methodical. She knows how to set up defenders to get them off balance and create open shots. She can hit shots off the dribble behind the arc and midrange. Pfeil can also use high-level basketball moves to get to the basket, including spin moves and hop steps. Pfeil displayed these skills in a recent summer tournament. In the tourney, in three games, she scored 27, 20, and 22 points.   Pfeil is also a big steal threat at the SG position.     Kira Keeton has a skillset that all high school coaches are looking for.   Keeton is both an outstanding 3-point shooter and an on-ball defender. In regard to her defense, Keeton does particularly well at generating mistakes from her assignment on defense. A lot of the time, she does this by just taking away their passing options by crowding them defensively. In a game against the Christian Academy of Knoxville last season, she got five steals   Keeton on offense does a great job of keeping her hands high on the initial catch before she goes into her jumper. This plays into her being able to get her jumper off at a good rate, despite contests coming from defenders. In a game against The King's Academy last season, she had four made 3-pointers.     [player_tooltip player_id='822225' first='Emma' last='Savage'] could definitely be in for a big senior season.   Savage at the shooting guard position provides high-level rebounding and is a good scorer on the drive. She is able to score with both her non-dominant and dominant hands effectively.   Savage on the perimeter has an above-average 3-point shot and pairs that with great passing skills. She is extremely good at locating a cutter or passing to her center or power forward if they have an advantageous post-up.     [player_tooltip player_id='907618' first='Willa' last='Heilman'] has a ton of versatility at the shooting guard position.   Heilman is an above-average wing defender and is also more than comfortable at defending in the interior. She has good footwork that allows her to slide over and provide good help defense in the paint, as well as stick close with her wing assignment if they choose to drive into the paint. In a game against Lebanon High School this past season, she had three blocks.   Heilman is also a high-level rebounder for an SG and is a good 3-point shooter.
