Spring Fever: Who Are the Club Season Breakout Players So Far

Basketball never stops, it is life for the elite. After the high school season ends the next season, which for many weighs far more heavily that interscholastic basketball, is the club season. Called the AAU season by many even though most of the high level players don't actually play AAU by definition, the term has stuck as it was once the thing (another conversation). Players can become "made" during the spring and summer and here are some players who are on track to do just that.    Katherine is a sharpshooter with strength and size. She is shooting almost 40% from the field and over 30% from beyond the arc in the EYBL regular season for [program_tooltip program_id='815866' first='Team' last='Durant']. She showed her value with highs of 17 points against MW Premier and 20 points versus Boo Williams, Katherine proved that she belongs in the conversation with the elite players in the country. We plan to keep an eye on her as the season progresses.     If I had to build out a player in a laboratory, I'd build my player super quick, with the versatility to play multiple positions. Of course she would have good size and I'd make her a superb ball handler. She would need to be a lockdown defender and finally, she'd need to be a lights out shooter. I get it all with [player_tooltip player_id='925644' first='Charli' last='Blandford']. She is shooting over 50% from beyond the arc, and checking off all of my boxes. She is a cheat code on defense, once she's locked in she makes even the best of ballhandlers uncomfortable. She can get off her own shot without needing a screen due to her speed and quick release. College coaches are taking notice with offers but there are a more that should get on board immediately.     Anaiah is amongst the assist leaders in the EYBL16U division and is shooting around 57% from the field. She is averaging almost 16 points per game for [program_tooltip program_id='815866' first='Team' last='Durant'] showing that she can both create for others and score. She looks to be setting the tone to be the next big thing to come out of Military Road. She is creating quite the buzz amongst the circuit and if she keeps going at this pace she will be a national focus for those All-American committee folks.     Lola has a variety of things that she is doing well. She had seven steals against Cal Stars, she had eight rebounds versus the LeGynds, She had six rebounds in the matchup against Sports City and then there are the fourteen points against the Alabama Southern Starz. She did something special in each game in Phoenix, if she puts everything together consistently, her stat lines will be ridiculous. She has proven that she can do pretty much everything on the floor and is definitely a player we wan to keep a close eye on.     Mikaela is a middle schooler with energy, size and bounce. She had a double-double in the game against MV Premier and another nine boards against Boo Williams. She goes after rebounds out of her area, staying active without fouling. She can put the ball on the floor and has the range to develop a consistent three point shot. She has been a dominant middle school player and from the looks of things her transition to the high school level should go pretty smoothly.     Autumn has shown consistency in scoring while averaging double figures after session one of the EYBL league. She is playing with a lot of confidence and not letting mistakes deter her. She takes advantage of open opportunities to shoot the three and seems to be doing well there. Her defense and ability to get to the rim are looking to be trademarks of hers.
