For a player, the chance to get reacclimated with one's high school teammates and coaches is a massive advantage. Coaches get a preview of what to expect from their high school teams especially if they have added or lost transfers.

Northside Christian, a school that competes in SCISA in the 3A classification, hosted one of the many camp events across the state as the A1 Hoops Team Shootout took place over two days at the home of the Crusaders.

We at Prep Girls Hoops made it to Northside Christian for Tuesday's games. We conclude our post-event coverage by recognizing those from the class of rising freshmen that put forth impressive performances.

When playing 4A Irmo as 3A Camden did at Tuesday's camp, priority number one has to be to keep Singletary in check. The Bulldogs found out that accomplishing that task against the rising star Yellow Jackets freshman is very difficult. Singletary got her scoring day started with a pair of 3-pointers and then got out in transition for a fastbreak layup. She also displayed her ability to handle the ball even amongst multiple defenders along with her willingness to draw contact and get to the free throw line. In her eighth-grade season, Singletary averaged 23.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 3.6 assists per game in 27 games.

We at Prep Girls Hoops recently spotlighted Gardner as one of our 2030s that is more than deserving of a spot in an upcoming set of 2030 rankings. Gardner proved that on Tuesday afternoon at Northside Christian. Garnder displayed with her consistent playmaking and tenacious attitude that she is also mor than ready for varsity life at 5A White Knoll. One can place Gardner in a team's lineup at either of the guard spots in the backcourt. Another attribute of hers that will impress many an onlooker is her willingness to make plays in the closing moments of games and always compete until the final buzzer sounds. Garnder was the leading scorer last season for the junior varsity Timberwolves averaging 11.3 points, 2.3 assists and two steals per game.

Frontcourt depth has been an emphasis of Camden over the past several seasons and that will continue to be the case as coach Lewis Mungo landed this key transfer from 1A North Central. In addition to her efficiency as a high-percentage bucket-getter, Cooper will also provide rebounding help for the Bulldogs. Cooper has established herself as a name to watch on the travel circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] and one can expect that to continue as she gains more experience with a Bulldogs team that should once again be a state contender as Camden moves back to the 3A ranks.

One of the elements to 3A Camden that makes it one of the toughest outs in the state is how the Bulldogs have talents at virtually all classes. Lee was one of two eighth graders on coach Lewis Mungo's team last season. She has played at the varsity level since she was a seventh grader. Lee previously played her middle school ball at Camden MS before arriving on the scene with the Bulldogs. Lee has played her travel ball with Team Unleashed. Her career in the middle school ranks included winning a championship last season in a 51-27 decision against Stover MS.

Following a dreadful 2024-25 campaign, the Capitals of 2A Columbia experienced a resurgent 2025-26 that saw the team finish with a 10-12 record and a first-round playoff contest against Batesburg-Leesville. Sharp, in her eighth-grade season, was instrumental in that Capitals turnaround and is in search of an even bigger 2026-27 for Columbia. Sharp maintains activity even when the ball is not in her hands and is a force to be reckoned with when she has the ball behind the 3-point line. Hustling for loose balls is another positive attribute to Sharp's game – as is drawing contact to find her way to the free throw line.
