The Au Sable Shootout has been a staple team camp for seven years, started by Director Ray Kimball. Located in beautiful Tawas City, teams have the opportunity to head up for a day trip or make a vacation of it by staying for both days of the shootout. The Au Sable Shootout was actually the first event I ever did with my new varsity program back in 2022. I remember how fun it was to play a unique mix of teams and stay in a resort town. As I've transitioned from coaching to scouting, I circle this event on my coverage calendar every year as a golden opportunity to find new prospects from lesser-known schools. Our goal at PGH is to cover everybody, and the Au Sable Shootout is a great stop along the way to accomplish that mission. Here are a few of the prospects who stood out on Wednesday.

Izzy took a lead role for Cass City at the Au Sable Shootout and confirmed her place as a top 20 prospect. Izzy has a reputation for her perimeter accuracy and was equally effective as a facilitator on Wednesday. She drained a smooth straightaway three up top and used the glass to hit a pull-up jumper from the mid wing. Izzy secured rebounds on the defensive end and scored a tough offensive rebound put back in traffic without the backboard. She swiped the ball away and pushed it with pace for a fast-break finish off two feet. Izzy kept her eyes peeled to find teammates in the open court and dished out great passes off dribble penetration.

Brianna missed time due to injury, and it was exciting to see her back on the court doing what she does best. She's a quick and shifty point guard who provides a spark with her two-way presence. Brianna buried a smooth straightaway three up top and chased down a drive from behind to poke the ball away for a steal. Her elusive ball-handling creates space to drive, shoot, and pass. Brianna brought the positive energy, high-fiving teammates, and celebrating the success of others.

Younger sister Ellie plays like big sis. Her aggressiveness and confidence really caught my attention during her AAU season with [program_tooltip program_id='714456' first='MBSA' last='Hoyas']. That's going to translate immediately to the high school level at Durand. She was all over the place making plays during the Au Sable Shootout. Ellie chased down offensive rebounds and took a defensive rebound coast-to-coast, switching hands to elude defenders on her way to the rim. Ellie doesn't quit on a play, shoots the three, creates steals with her aggressive perimeter defense, and dishes out passes on a rope for assists. She's an incoming freshman ready to make a big splash.

Montana had herself a breakout day for Durand at the Au Sable Shootout. Her impact was impossible to miss. Montana found her hot spot in the corner and made the defense pay for leaving her open. She drilled three corner triples with a confident stroke, then used a shot fake to free a defender, then ripped by with a burst to swish a floater over the help. Montana raced up the court to create transition points after securing rebounds and fired cross-court dimes to open teammates. She batted a pass away, scooped up the ball, then took it the distance for a speedy full-court finish. Montana stared down the rim and used a quick rip move to get by and earn a trip to the free throw line. She will be continuing her soccer career at Alma following graduation.

Concord could be the team to beat in D4 this winter. They looked like the real deal at the Au Sable Shootout. Braelynn will be a key contributor to their success. She's long, mobile, physical, and can step outside to hit mid-range jumpers or finish in traffic. Braelynn protects the rim, keeps her hands active to disrupt the passing lanes, and has good instincts in the post. Definitely a talented and promising forward in the 29 class with a lot of upside.
