The Wisconsin State Tournament wrapped up, Sunday, at The Champion Center, and here are just a few of the players that impressed me in the 15-17U divisions.

[player_tooltip player_id='881307' first='Kylee' last='Buttchen']-[program_tooltip program_id='1230720' first='Team' last='Herro'] 17U

This was my first opportunity to watch Buttchen play and I came away impressed by her overall game. What initially caught my eye was her ability to get downhill and finish seemingly everything from 12 feet and in including floaters, stop-and-pop jumpers, and crafty finishes at the hoop absorbing contact in the process. She also showed three-level scoring ability in knocking down a long ball and was a tenacious on-ball defender resulting in multiple steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='874404' first='Ava' last='Cumicek']-[program_tooltip program_id='712778' first='Purple' last='Aces'] 15U

Cumicek, as it comes to no surprise to me, was once again one of the more impressive players that I watched over the weekend. She is a "high motor" player that provides a dynamic offensive presence showing a quick first step, the ability to blow by defenders, and finish with either hand over and through traffic while delivering contact. Deadly when given any space, on the perimeter, Cumicek accounted for multiple 3-pointers in each game that I watched.

[player_tooltip player_id='1744740' first='Whitney' last='Schmidt']-[program_tooltip program_id='712356' first='1' last='on 1 Milwaukee'] Green 16U

5-7 Schmidt, coming off of a 20.9 ppg season, with Burlington, showed why with her impressive showing over the weekend. Strong, physical player who showed great ability to not only knock down the three-ball, but also in getting to the basket, at will, and finishing in a variety of ways in traffic. Schmidt also was a beast, on the offensive glass, accounting for several rebound putbacks and looks poised for another terrific season with the Demons.

[player_tooltip player_id='1039225' first='Angelina' last='Reyes']-[program_tooltip program_id='712356' first='1' last='on 1 Milwaukee'] Purple

Angelina was one of the best, most complete players that I watched on Sunday. Reyes impressed me again with her ability to get to the hoop, at will, and use her body/off-hand to create space finishing in a variety of ways around the basket while exhibiting great body control and delivering contact drawing many fouls in the process. Defensively she is a strong on-ball defender, with quick hands, who made life miserable for anyone she guarded and kept the offense on their heels with her aggressive defensive play.

[player_tooltip player_id='888335' first='Sofija' last='Paldrmic']-[program_tooltip program_id='1230720' first='Team' last='Herro'] 15U EYCL Green

I have seen Paldrmic play, on a couple of occasions, and she seems to get better every time I see her. Possessing good size, the 5-11 Oak Creek product looks poised to build off of a terrific sophomore season where she averaged 7.6 points and 3.7 rebounds with a great showing over the weekend. A physical presence, on the offensive end, Paldrmic was all over the glass accounting for several rebounds, many resulting in easy putbacks and had no problem getting downhill and attacking the paint at will.
