Northwood Team Camp: The Future has Arrived

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Northwood Team Camp is an event on my coverage schedule every summer. As a varsity coach and now a Prep Girls Hoops scout, this is my fifth straight year attending camp. Great hospitality and a variety of high school teams from across Michigan keep me coming back. The stars shine, and diamonds in the rough reveal themselves every year. She drove downhill with determinatin to cause fouls, earning trips to the free throw line. Victoria fought her way into position to secure multiple offensive rebounds and muscles through contact to score powerful putbacks off two feet. Victoria sprinted back in transition to stop fast breaks on the defensive end. Madeline has height, finishing touch around the basket, good hands and pivoting footwork, and a rebounding presence that makes her a foundational player in the Swartz Creek lineup. She pinned a defender deep with a strong seal, drove her under the basket with strength, and went up off two for the left handed finish. Madeline caught passes at their highest point, forced the defense to put her on the free throw line, and knocked down shots from the charity stripe. She caused misses on the defensive end, protected the paint, and finished well around the blocks with both hands after using excellent pivoting footwork. She crashed the offensive glass to score a strong and-one finish off two feet and added another and-one during the OT tournament off a seal and counter pivot in the lane. Evah demonstrated her confidence as a face-up driver, ripping by defenders from the perimeter off the bounce, and scoring many layups through contact. Her footwork was a separator on the court as she pivoted multiple times to get the finishing angle needed to convert high percentage looks in traffic. Evah's mobility gave defenders fits and she cut right to the front of the rim, caught entry passes with good hands, and earned trips to the line. Her quickness, and playmaking on both sides of the ball stood out. Maeva was a lethal weapon for Swan Valley from beyond the arc. She buried a pair of deep wing threes, drained a smooth triple from the corner, and added a filthy step-back wing three off the bounce that hit nothing but nylon. Maeva turned up the heat on opposing ball-handlers with her perimeter pressure, resulting in deflections. She changed directions swiftly with a combination of crossovers and behind the back dribbles to escape pressure in the backcourt. She had a solid showing for the squad at Northwood Team Camp. Gwen is long and tough enough to defend in the post, can handle the ball as a guard, and provides a three point threat from the perimeter. She attacked hard off the dribble to energize the team with an and one bucket at the rim, drained a deep three from the slot, and fired a long lead pass up the court to a teammate in stride for an assist.
