Simple concept, but there are so many factors that play into the success of the student athlete. The same can be said about the recruitment game. A kid can be great in their district, division, region, etc, but when it comes to playing against talent from elsewhere, how do they measure up? Learning the nuances of the game, along with strategically positioning oneself to be seen, is vital to how one will be recruited.   After speaking to countless constituents, as a writer, it's hard to sometimes agree or disagree with what coaches are looking for. I value the product in this state as other people do in theirs. Selfish as it may seem, I do feel we have the talent to compete at higher levels. It just takes one opportunity for the ball to get rolling, and I feel that while some have been overlooked, the door isn't closed at all. Everyone is on their own journey. It's just a matter of time before that breakthrough will occur. You just have to keep grinding and working at your craft, and the blessings will follow.   There are many prospects out there who will soon have the opportunity to play at the next level. It may be a D1, D2, D3, NAIA, or JUCO offer, but it will be something. Just know that, whatever the school or level, you, as a prospect, are valuable to that program.   Here are some overlooked girls in the state of Tennessee. Solid ballplayers who are on the cusp of getting that opportunity at the next level that they want.    Shifty guard who plays with a motor. Confident. Ball of energy. She is a three-level scoring threat that can create off the bounce. Playing with that Memphis Swag, she backs it up and goes straight at her opponent. She gets it done on both ends of the floor. Great person, one who is going to give it her all for her teammates. Look for her to have a solid year, helping lift herself and her program to new heights.     Quiet demeanor, but her game speaks volumes. A heady floor general who can score from multiple spots on the floor, but plays selflessly and is always looking for the hot hand. She plays with poise. Doesn't get rattled in the face of pressure. Defends the full length of the floor and gives up her body to obtain the basketball or take a charge. She's a great teammate who will fight tooth and nail for her club.     A proven winner who is impactful. Her recruitment is picking up as programs realize the value she brings. She's a scoring threat that can slash to the rim, knock down open jumpers, but most importantly, defend her tail off. She brings it every game, giving her squad an edge as they compete. She was big time during the tournament last year and helped deliver a state championship. Look for her to do the same this year, with accolades to follow. Heady ball player with so much to give.     Versatile guard who can do a multitude of things. She brings value to a ball club; her skill set is across the board. She has the ability to create off the dribble, stop on a dime, knock down the mid-range, or get to the rim. She can knock down the 3-ball efficiently, or attack the paint and kick out to the open shooter. She defends like crazy, not only neutralizing her opponent but creating easy transition buckets. She's a spark plug on a mission.     Solid two-way guard who has put up some solid numbers this summer. Playing on the EYBL circuit, she has been giving teams fits, not only getting buckets but also contributing in other phases of the game. Her talent has grown over the years, and the value she brings to a ballclub is second to none. A tough ballplayer who is going to show up and do the necessary things to help her club win. Look for her to continue growing and be a valuable asset not only in school ball but also for a program at the next level.     This kid is special, and it will only be a matter of time before college coaches realize what talent she brings. A kid who plays with a motor, she is going to go at you on both ends of the floor. She can penetrate and finish, catch and shoot from 3, lock down on the defensive end, and step up by doing the hustle plays. A tough competitor who plays with a ball of energy. Look for her to jump on the radar of collegiate coaches.     Solid ball player who just delivers. Doesn't matter the platform or what's at stake, she always seems to be in a position to step up in a big way. Over the years, she has grown into a solid ballplayer who just gets after it. She is deadly from 3. Is a solid leader for her club. She just brings a type of energy into the game that people feed off of. Throughout the tournament the past two seasons, she spearheaded her team's success. She's the girl who has to be on the floor because she makes a difference. Look for her to be a solid candidate for programs at the next level.     A tough ballplayer who just gets after it. Steady as they come, she always seems to be in position to make the right plays at the right time. She's tough on both ends of the floor. Playing with such pace, she's able to bring an extra oomph to her club. A kid who knows how to use her body can navigate through traffic and finish at the rim, or step out along the perimeter and knock down the 3-ball consistently. She's a hungry player who brings it and will be a steal for a program at the next level.     A sleeper amongst many, she is a heady floor general that changes the game. A true PG, she can not only run an offense efficiently, but also score the basketball in multiple ways. She doesn't force the issue. One who can pick her spots to exploit. A tireless worker and gym rat. A captain. A force. She's a kid who's going to help Bearden continue their winning ways, all the while securing the eyes of coaches at the next level. Keep tabs on this young lady, as you will hear her name called in many different realms of things.
