Paint Dominance at Run 4 the Roses

There is no bigger stage in girls grassroots basketball than Run 4 the Roses. With thousands of college coaches filling the sidelines and elite talent from across the country competing in Louisville, every performance carries weight. While guards often steal the spotlight, these post players proved that controlling the paint still wins games. Whether it was rebounding, defending, finishing around the rim, or stretching the floor, each of these players made a major impact during one of the biggest recruiting events in the country.    Abner was one of the most relentless rebounders at the tournament. She consistently created second-chance opportunities by attacking the offensive glass and always found someone to box out. Her soft hands allowed her to secure difficult rebounds, and she displayed excellent vision by making smart passes out of the post. Her toughness and effort stood out every time she stepped on the floor.     Warner showcased her versatility throughout the tournament. While playing primarily in the post, she also showed she has the skills to play on the perimeter. She finished well around the basket with polished moves, consistently battled for rebounds on both ends, and gave her team another reliable scoring option inside.     McGuire continued to show the growth in her game during Run 4 the Roses. The left-hander used her developing post game to score inside while also attacking defenders off the dribble and finishing through contact. Defensively, she protected the paint well and consistently made life difficult for opposing post players.     Packer made her presence felt with her size, physicality, and activity around the basket. She rebounded at a high level, defended the paint well, and showed noticeable improvements in her all-around game. Rather than relying only on traditional post play, she displayed the work she has put in this summer by expanding her offensive skill set.     Brockman impacted nearly every possession during the tournament. She overpowered defenders in the paint with her athleticism and strength, controlled the boards, and made winning plays on the defensive end. Her ability to dominate inside while creating opportunities for teammates was a major reason for her team's outstanding run.     Doss put together an outstanding weekend. As expected, she rebounded at a high level and defended with toughness, but she also showed her versatility offensively. Late in one game, she buried back-to-back three-pointers that helped secure a victory, proving she can stretch the floor just as effectively as she controls the paint.     Nelson impressed with one of the best mid-range games at the tournament. While many players rely almost exclusively on threes or layups, she consistently knocked down pull-up jumpers with confidence. Her length, speed, and athleticism also allowed her to impact both ends of the floor.     Boler proved to be one of the toughest matchups at Run 4 the Roses. Her relentless motor, physical play, and polished footwork allowed her to score inside while also knocking down mid-range shots. She rebounded consistently, defended multiple positions, and showed she has the versatility to play anywhere from the post to the wing.     Carli demonstrated why she is such an effective stretch four. She scored from the paint, mid-range, and beyond the three-point line while using her footwork to create quality looks. She also controlled the glass on both ends, giving her team countless extra possessions and making a major impact throughout the tournament.
