The Run 4 The Roses Championship took place last weekend, beginning on Sunday, July 12th, and finishing up on Tuesday, July 14th. As usual, a large number of Indiana teams/programs traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, where they participated in two tournaments last weekend. The Run 4 The Roses Classic tournament ran from July 9-11. In this article, I take a look at a handful of guards and wings who made an impression in the time I was able to see them.

.

Over the last couple of years, Ava has been one of the steadier small school point guards in the state. She plays with good poise and patience, she gets the ball where it needs to go, but she can add offense herself. She is a capable perimeter shooter, plus she's a nice athlete who can attack North/South, and she even spends some time with her team(s) playing off the ball. She's an effortful defender who can utilize her athleticism, but she's also willing to be physical on the perimeter, and she's not afraid to go inside and rebound her position. She can definitely help some small colleges.

Since I first saw her in the Spring of 2025, Izzy has been a fun watch more times than not. She is quick, shifty, fast, and feisty. She enjoys being on attack, creating space and getting defenders off-balance with the dribble, then turning the corner to put pressure on the middle of the defense, finding open teammates. She, herself, is a capable shooter/scorer as well, but I feel like it's her playmaking and creativity that separate her from many of the other 2027 point guards in Indiana. Defensively, she has the speed and quickness to be a problem when she's locked in and urgent.

Ana is a nice, young, small school wing prospect who plays with good skill and a solid understanding of the game. When she has time to get set and find rhythm, she is a very good perimeter shooter, and in the game I saw, she buried a couple of key 3-pointers down the stretch. The other part of her game where she looks more comfortable is handling it, but more specifically, handling it against pressure. She has enough size to get inside and rebound consistently, plus she is a solid athlete in most directions and can defend wings and forwards with versatility.

Chesterton has a really nice guard or two in each of their four graduating classes, and Lindsi is one of the best point guards in Northwest Indiana in the 2028 class. Not only does she have some length at her height, but she also has some speed and quickness, plus she has a solid/strong frame and absorbs contact well. She has a solid feel for the position and can run offense/find teammates, but she's also a capable shooter/scorer. Defensively, she uses her frame to play physically at times, but she can also utilize her athleticism at that end of the floor. She could have a nice 2026-2027 season.

I believe I said this same thing back in May, but I have been impressed with Haylee's play during this grassroots season, and she is a breakout candidate for the 2026-2027 high school season. She is a long, wiry, fluid shooter with really good touch from outside, especially if she has any rhythm. She does a nice job of moving without the basketball and finding space, and she always seems to be ready on the catch, plus she has a quick release. She has handled the ball some in her past, so she can help with that as a Junior, but look for the Royals to find ways to get her open off screens.

Tatum had a nice rookie season for Ben Davis, and she was solid with the Lady Giants when I saw her in June. But last weekend she was dialed in and as assertive as I've seen her offensively. She is tough...tough-nosed, physical, and not intimidated. She likes to attack the basket and seek contact, but she can also finish through that contact. She's a capable perimeter shooter and a solid athlete in most directions, but I just think her toughness/physicality are what make her stand out from her peers. Defensively, she is gritty, effortful, and she uses angles and discipline.

I wrote about Bryce after her play last Friday, and she was solid. But Sunday, she was on a different level, and I had to mention her once again. She has played "up" in 16U as a 2030 grad all year, and Sunday she was the best guard on the floor at times. She showed her ability to make tight-window passes, score it from all three levels, including through contact, and she was feisty and engaged at the defensive end of the floor. She has drawn high-major Division I interest/offers already, and she still has room to grow and develop her game. Her career should be fun to follow.
