Select Super Showcase: Forward Standouts

The Select Super Showcase is a Live Period tournament that's on my coverage schedule year after year. Welcoming hospitality, organization, elite competition, participation by Michigan clubs, a reasonable driving distance, a high volume of college coaches in the gym, and dozens of courts in close proximity make this a premier event. These were some of the forward prospects who were difference makers for their teams:    Ryenn delivered another strong showing under the spotlight for Mystics 17U S40, this time at the Select Super Showcase. Her skilled footwork in the paint created the openings she needed to score against length in the post. Ryenn used an effective hip turn pivot move to finish a contested layup. She pounded the ball toward the middle of the lane, pinned the defender on her hip with a long drop-step, and protected the ball by keeping it high to finish the layup. Ryenn showed her outside range by stepping out to sink a corner three, and finished effectively around the basket throughout the game. She has great passing vision and instincts out of the high post, which created open looks for shooters. Ryenn picked up an offer from Tiffin.     Leelyn's aggressiveness and grit stood out at the Select Super Showcase. She was very active and determined to secure rebounds on both ends of the court. Leelyn caused a foul and knocked down both free throws with confidence at the line. She showed her ability to attack off the dribble, attacking from the perimeter with a full head of steam, then finished the contested layup with strength at the rim. Leelyn used the top of the glass to convert a very difficult shot and worked hard to get the advantage inside. She looked solid for [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] 2028.     Frankie is a forward prospect who has the potential to be a major stock riser in this class. Her size and physicality create matchup problems for defenders. Frankie was very productive for [program_tooltip program_id='713450' first='REAL' last=''] 17U at the Select Super Showcase. She worked hard inside to secure an offensive rebound, then scored the putback. Her high motor on the offensive glass forced the defense to send her to the free throw line. Frankie finished well off two feet. She caught a pass with good hands, made a smooth ball transfer, then powered through contact for the and-one layup. She holds her ground, moves to open space, and protects the basket on the defensive end.     Madelyn is a forward prospect who has promising potential. She checks the boxes with 6-foot length and good mobility for her size (potential to develop into a stretch 4 or wing). Madelyn competes with a non-stop hustle and effort that makes her extremely impactful. She worked hard to secure offensive rebounds and made unselfish passes that led to assists. Madelyn disrupts shots and passing lanes with her long arms, gets to the free-throw line, and knocked down two straight from the charity stripe. She's a versatile prospect for Mystics 16U Evan to keep on your radar.     Sofie delivered a strong performance for Mystics 17U Chosen at the Select Super Showcase. Her determination and relentless motor stood out on the court. Sofie crashed the boards to secure offensive rebounds and went up strong in traffic to score putbacks. She drove hard to the basket to score a left-handed bucket, jumped a pass on the perimeter for the steal, pushed the ball with pace towards the basket in transition, then finished through contact to energize the team with an and-one.     Brynn left a lasting impression when I saw her play for the first time during the Select Super Showcase. Her length, physicality, strength, and impact on the game stood out. She was very disciplined on the defensive end, showing poise by not falling for multiple head fakes, maintaining excellent inside positioning against a drive, then timing the shot up perfectly for the block. Brynn went up strong, finished well off two feet, and muscled her way into position to score putbacks. One of her highlight moments came when she high-pointed a difficult lob entry pass, used an effective drop step pivot to get her defender on her hip, then powered through the contact to score a strong and-one finish. She tacked on the free throw to complete the three-point play.     Hadleigh is one of the top forwards in her class, and she looked like it with [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] 15U at the Select Super Showcase. She was a complete difference-maker as a shot-blocker, rebounder, defender, and finisher. Hadleigh closed out hard to keep shooters from getting open looks on the perimeter, then immediately flipped her hips to sprint and block shot attempts on drives. She blocked multiple shots and jumped into the passing lanes to create steals. Hadleigh caught an entry pass with soft hands, then used her shoulder to create the space needed to finish at the rim. She goes up strong and finished layups in stride with good touch around the basket. Hadleigh crashed the boards constantly and was an extremely aggressive rebounder.
