The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, and many clubs attended more than one. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition.

After actively evaluating prospects during the first travel session, we now have 235 players ranked. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.

Based on data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class. However, this 2028 class is clearly going to be an outlier. The number of prospects rated as D1/D2+ and D2/D3+/NAIA+/JUCO+ is greater than the typical average, with the biggest increase happening with 20+ prospects rated D1/D2+ and 55+ prospects rated as D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+. The outcome of this surplus of talent/depth will hopefully mean more opportunities for these high school prospects to play impactful minutes at the best college level for them in Michigan, across the Midwest, and wherever they decide to go.

Elyssa has towering height, length, and mobility that instantly catches your attention when she steps onto the court. She definitely showed potential during games for [program_tooltip program_id='1831436' first='MBA' last='[program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House']'] on the PGH Circuit. Elyssa gets into a scoring position and does a good job of giving teammates a target inside. She demonstrated progress with her footwork, hands, and touch around the basket. Elyssa is an active rebounder and her length makes it difficult for opponents to get high percentage looks at the basket inside. She'll draw a crowd of college coaches by continuing to polish her fundamentals and has great potential as a forward prospect.

Avery proved herself time and again, disrupting a high-rated D1 post prospect in the paint at BCAM Reaching Higher, in addition to her dominance for MBA Rise 16U on the PGH Circuit. She has unique athleticism at her size, 6-foot-3 length, and mobility that translate directly to high levels of college basketball in the frontcourt. Avery has good hands and scoring touch around the basket. She made a strong impression as a high-level prospect on the circuit in front of our scouts, both in and out of state. Avery protects the rim as a shot blocker and forces misses with excellent body control in the paint. Her footwork, aggressiveness in scoring through contact, and ability to attack as a face-up driver have improved. She hasn't peaked and has one of the highest ceilings in this class.

One of the top U.P. prospects, Paige delivered a fantastic performance at the Zero Star Showcase that instantly proved she belonged with the top posts in this class. She's stocky, strong, long, and very skilled in the paint. Paige defends well without fouling and works hard to own the glass. She scores with excellent footwork and finishes well using either hand. Paige muscles her way into position for high-percentage shots, pins defenders with a strong stance in the paint, catches passes with great hands, and goes up strong to score through contact. A big stock riser, Paige is a prospect more colleges across the state will need to have on their radar.

Brooklyn was a Top Performer for [program_tooltip program_id='962114' first='Lady' last='FVV'] at Wayne State during the PGH College Tour. More than that, she proved her worth as a high-level post prospect. When you see 6-foot-plus length, athleticism, a strong and filled-out frame, ability to handle the ball in the open court, comfort finishing with both hands around the basket, good footwork, and add the fact that Brooklyn hits three-pointers with confidence, your antenna immediately goes up as a scout. Brooklyn finishes well off two feet, protects the basket as a shot blocker, and catches entry passes with strong hands. She's another high-ceiling post prospect who has the potential to keep climbing the list.

Molly was a Top Performer for [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] 17U at the GVSU PGH Michigan College Tour. That's where her outstanding potential as a college prospect really came to light. Molly has 6-foot-plus length and competes with a non-stop motor. She has the potential to develop into a stretch forward, showing a willingness to step outside and shoot the three. She's very mobile and runs the floor well in transition. Molly crashes the glass to secure rebounds and goes up strong to finish layups in traffic. Her shot-blocking and work ethic on the defensive end make easy looks at the basket hard to come by. Molly has the potential to keep climbing the list and will be a post prospect to have on your radar.
