The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, with many clubs attending more than one tournament. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition.

After actively evaluating prospects during the first travel session, we now have 191 players ranked. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.

Taking data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes into consideration, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, my expectations moving forward are that there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class.
Taylor consistently made an impact for [program_tooltip program_id='715695' first='Michigan' last='Vice'] 16U on the PGH Circuit, receiving recognition as a Top Performer and an All-Tournament First Team selection. She's scrappy on defense, has a high IQ as the court general, is a great facilitator, and changes hands with ease to beat defenders off the dribble. Taylor finishes effectively in traffic and is consistent from beyond the arc. She'll be a major contributor in the Northville backcourt this winter.

Giuliana put herself on our radar with breakout performances on the PGH Circuit and [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] practice. Her quickness and all-out defensive pressure on the perimeter give opposing guards fits. She penetrates off the dribble with a burst, gets to the rim, and finishes in traffic. Giuliana works to make an impact on the glass and will be an all-around playmaker for Northville over the coming years.

Kate's high ceiling as a prospect became apparent as I watched her compete for [program_tooltip program_id='1831436' first='MBA' last='[program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House']'] on the PGH Circuit this spring. Her mobility at 6 feet, ability to shoot the three, shot-blocking, defense, high-jumping athleticism, good hands, and ability to finish around the basket were all separators. Kate has the potential to be a dominant inside-outside wing-forward as she continues to develop.

Amanda was a standout at SkillCase a year ago, and she received recognition as a Top Performer while playing up for Michigan Goonies 16U on the PGH Circuit. Amanda is a dynamic guard who handles the ball with excellent control and speed. She maintains balance and creates space to attack with quick dribble combinations. She has good finishing touch and footwork around the basket. Amanda is an accurate three-point shooter off the hop or the dribble, an effective facilitator, and she moves her feet well laterally to defend drives without fouling.

Lyla is a polished guard with athleticism and quickness that make her a very promising college prospect. She handles the ball comfortably with both hands, changes directions quickly to penetrate gaps, and finishes with finesse in the paint. Lyla has a smooth pull-up jumper and sinks shots from the mid-range and beyond the arc. Her lateral speed keeps guards bottled up on the perimeter, and she can distribute passes on the move to open teammates. Lyla has fundamental skills and footwork that stand out. She's going to be productive for a very talented Utica Eisenhower team.

Selina put herself on our radar with a breakout performance at the Michigan State Showcase. She has the length, strength, and versatility needed to play the guard, wing, and forward spots. Selina is relentless on the boards, attacks hard off the dribble to get to the rim, finishes well around the basket through contact, makes smart reads off the ball, pins defenders deep to get high percentage looks, and uses excellent footwork in the paint to score. She disrupts shots on the defensive end and will be a playmaker to follow at Ionia this winter.
