Lyla is playing up with Mystics Chosen 16U, and I’m confident she is going to fit right in. Her crafty ball-handling, balance, footwork, finishing touch around the rim, vision, and pull-up game have made a great impression during previous evaluations. She’s quick and athletic with the skill to make a big impact for her team this weekend at Northwood during the PGH MI College Tour.

Panetta uses smooth swift handles to get by defenders and get to the hoop. This opens up her perimeter game where she is an absolute sharp shooter with an effortless release. With the ball in her hands she’s got her head up, prepared to find the next open player. She’ll be an exciting player to watch for the Eisenhower Eagles.

Lyla brought energy and shot-making to Team 1 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, knocking down multiple threes with confidence and consistent shooting form. She sprinted the floor in transition, creating easy scoring chances by staying active and aware. On defense, her scrappy approach and willingness to get into passing lanes added value on both ends.

It didn’t take long for me to start asking “who is that kid?” Lyla made an immediate impression during the stationary dribbling drills with her ball speed, control, footwork, and effort. Lyla has excellent finishing control, which showed up during three lane rush as she converted two full speed layups with her left hand off two feet. During 1v1, Lyla showed a second gear, blowing by a defender to score a scoop layup. She knocked down jumpers from two and three-point distance during the drills. In games, Lyla’s hard work and quick feet on defense closed driving lanes. She showed off her hops and climbed the ladder to score a layup. Lyla used shifty inside-out dribbles to create separation, and completed an explosive drive with a contested finish off two feet. Lyla avoided a defender using a fancy euro-step move to cause a foul. Eisenhower is adding another playmaker to their program this winter and I’m excited to see her again at the Freshman Showcase.
