2027 Class Impresses at Grand Valley Elite Camp

The 2027 class was well represented at the Grand Valley Elite Camp on Tuesday evening, with players making the most of the opportunity to compete in a high-level setting. Among the group were two players already committed to Grand Valley, along with two additional 2027 prospects who showcased their talents throughout the evening. With competitive 5-on-5 action and instruction from the Grand Valley coaching staff and players, the camp provided a great opportunity to see this class in action. Here are four 2027 players who caught my attention and made an impression at the camp.    Alexis, a Grand Valley commit who played for Team 1, showcased her versatility throughout the Elite Camp. She made an excellent pass in transition and turned a steal into a coast-to-coast finish, while also displaying strong footwork when attacking in the lane. Alexis was active on the glass, coming up with offensive rebounds and converting them into putbacks. Defensively, she made her presence felt with blocks and a big perimeter rejection before hustling to keep the play alive by knocking the ball off an opposing player. She also grabbed a defensive rebound and took it coast to coast, highlighting her ability to quickly turn defense into offense. Her energy, versatility, and effort were on display throughout the evening.       Payton, a Grand Valley commit who played for Team 4, helped lead her squad to an undefeated run during the 5-on-5 competition at the Elite Camp. Her performance drew plenty of praise from Coach Mike, who complimented her play multiple times throughout the evening. Payton consistently knocked down three-pointers, including several from well beyond the arc, while also showing she can create off the dribble. She used a strong rip move to get past her defender for a finish at the rim and displayed patience at the top of the key, waiting for an opening before attacking downhill. On the defensive end, Payton used her length to disrupt opposing players and make an impact without the ball. Her combination of shooting, patience, and versatility made her a key contributor to Team 4's undefeated showing.     Mackenna, a quick and shifty guard who played for Team 2, showcased her ability to make plays on both ends of the floor at the Grand Valley Elite Camp. She used her speed and change of direction to create separation and knocked down shots from beyond the arc. Mackenna also pushed the pace in transition, taking a defensive rebound coast to coast for a score and sprinting the floor for another transition bucket. She added a heads-up defensive play by stealing an inbound pass and converting it into a pull-up jumper. On the defensive end, Mackenna was a constant pest, applying pressure and making opposing guards work for every possession.       Brooklyn, a guard for Team 6, showcased her speed and playmaking ability at the Grand Valley Elite Camp. She used her quickness to get past defenders and create scoring opportunities, including several strong drives for buckets. Brooklyn also knocked down three-pointers, showing she can stretch the floor while attacking off the bounce. Her passing ability added another dimension to her game, and she was active defensively, coming away with multiple steals. Her combination of speed, ball skills, and defensive activity made for a strong showing throughout the evening.
