With over 70 players in the gym, this year's Freshman Showcase gave me a chance to get an early look at a group of young prospects. At this stage, it's less about being a finished product and more about the foundation already in place. Here is a small recap of what I saw from the players on Team 1.

[player_tooltip player_id='1227488' first='Cambridge' last='Jones'] (#90) - Jones showed a strong ability to keep the flow of the game at a good pace when she had the ball in her hands. As she gets older and adds more strength, everything else should continue to follow.

[player_tooltip player_id='1879751' first='Fiona' last='Morris'] (#97) - Morris was in constant motion and is not a player who likes to stand still. As her overall skill set continues to take shape, her speed will keep her competitive, and her constant movement will allow her to continue finding ways to impact the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1218132' first='Kailyn' last='Hardamon'] (#99) - Plays much longer than her size, and on the defensive end, she causes a lot of problems. Offensively, she moves well without the ball and has a good understanding of the spots she needs to be in.

[player_tooltip player_id='1831203' first='Giulia' last='Everson'] (#102) - Her frame is a big part of her skill set, and most of that impact is shown on the defensive end. She's long and versatile enough to guard both the perimeter and the post when needed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1811462' first='Lexi' last='Wolken'] (#136) - Lexi went out a little early in Game 1 due to injury, but while she was in, her speed and aggressiveness when attacking the rim were definitely noticed.

[player_tooltip player_id='887007' first='Allison' last='Kay'] (#144) - When it came to the defensive end of the floor, Kay truly understood her assignment. One of my favorite things to watch is how well she knows when to switch and when to stay with her matchup. Little things like shows the IQ.

[player_tooltip player_id='877827' first='Aubrey' last='Sudkamp'] (#151) - Off the dribble is where Aubrey had some of her best moments. She has a quick first step, and when you pair that with her athleticism, good things usually unfold. She also has a solid handle, which gives her another tool to create with the ball in her hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='1251933' first='Ainslie' last='Haunty'] (#152) - One of the more physical players who played today. Haunty doesn't have the normal stature of a freshman, and she uses that well. She moves well on the offensive end, and at this stage, off the ball is where she shows most of her confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='1226883' first='Kenna' last='Carroll'] (#153) - Carroll had a handful of strong moments during today's showcase. She is well beyond her years with her overall skill set and was the primary ball handler in most games. Her handle is strong, she doesn't fear the pressure that comes with having the ball in her hands, and she's a hell of a shot creator as well.

With over 70 players in the gym, this year's Freshman Showcase gave me a chance to get an early look at a group of young prospects.
