PGH MI Freshman Showcase: Team 5 Evaluations

The 2030 Freshman Showcase was loaded with talent that will be the new faces of future college recruiting boards at every level. This marquee showcase set a PGH Michigan record with 94 prospects registered for the event, marking our second straight year with 90+ freshmen taking the court. We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support of Prep Girls Hoops and our showcases by the Michigan community. Your support enables us to do what we love: evaluate and identify as many college prospects across the entire state, while providing the best coverage we can to as many players as possible. Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Every court was coached by college coaches, and they did a phenomenal job working with the players and providing feedback during the games. Let's talk about media exposure. There have been thousands of views of our live coverage on X and Instagram, and our post-event articles will be read by hundreds. Every participant receives a write-up in our articles, which is something unique and special about the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. My coverage focused primarily on teams 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. She showed an extra gear during a middle drive for a layup and stretched the floor by sinking a smooth corner three. Coblie energized the team by forcing a turnover with her full-court pressure, and did well in her role as a facilitator. Colbie penetrated the paint with her dribble and kicked the ball out to open teammates for multiple assists. She'll be a great addition to the Oakland Christian program this winter.     Kamani created space on the perimeter with her crossovers and behind-the-back snaps. She looks confident handling the rock with either hand, which will make her an effective facilitator at the high school level. Kamani did a nice job of setting ball screens to alleviate pressure and moved to open space. Her fast feet close driving lanes on the defensive end, and she created steals with her active hands. Kamani made the extra pass, chased down offensive rebounds, closed out hard on a shot for a block, and drove hard to the basket to earn a trip to the line. She was consistent, coachable, and productive for Team 5 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. Kamani will be a nice addition to the Renaissance program.     Cambri impacted games for Team 5 with an all-around determined effort that caught my attention at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She worked hard to secure rebounds, ripped the ball away aggressively for a steal on the defensive end, made good basket cuts off the ball, and dished out assists. Cambri showed her outside range and swished a high-arcing rainbow three at the top of the key. She crashed the glass to grab an offensive rebound and showed determination after missing the shot by sprinting to tie up the rebounder in the backcourt. Cambri made a nice transfer to score a catch and finish at the rim. She's going to be a welcome addition to the Spring Lake squad.     Grethe wasn't afraid to pull it from beyond the arc, and she drained a smooth straightaway three off the bounce. Grethe used a quick inside-out dribble to create an open lane, then drove straight to the basket to earn a trip to the line. She knocked down the free throw with confidence. Her long and active hands disrupt passing lanes and create steals. Grethe showed confidence handling the ball with either hand in the open court. She was an active contributor for Team 5 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase and has the potential to be a very productive player in the Grandville program.     Mariah contributed to Team 5 in a variety of ways at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She showed confidence as a downhill slasher, driving hard to the basket to earn a trip to the free throw line. Mariah stretches the floor with her outside shot and fired a smooth catch-and-shoot wing three that hit nothing but net. She's an effective facilitator and threw a nice entry pass inside to a teammate for the assist. Mariah makes the hustle plays, rebounds, and will be a productive member of the Decatur program over the years.     Hailey is a skilled guard ready to make an immediate impact at Linden this winter. She turned in some flashy plays at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase for Team 5. Hailey showed she's not afraid to mix it up inside, pinning a defender deep with a strong seal, then pivoting to finish with a layup. She's a threat to score off the dribble and split the gap with a burst, then dropped in a soft floater on a drive. Hailey can stretch the floor, and she drained a long jumper with confidence. Hailey sees the court well and dished a nice pass to a wide-open teammate down low.     Bay City Western is adding another offensive weapon to the mix this winter. Rosie moves to open space, catches passes on the perimeter with her feet set, and is ready to fire as soon as you give her an inch of space. Rosie drained a smooth mid-corner three off the hop and added another triple from the wing three off the hop. Once defenders commit to her outside shot, she has the quickness to attack and finish layups at the rim. She gave Team 5 a spark on the offensive end at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.     Jillian is a versatile wing-forward who looks like another promising prospect coming through the Grass Lake program. She has good length, size, and skill that will make her a productive inside-outside threat. Jillian shot the ball confidently from beyond the arc throughout the day. She knocked down a smooth straightaway three up top off the bounce and buried a triple from the corner. Jillian fired lead passes up the court to start the fast break, was active on the glass, switched hands well in the open court to escape pressure, created steals, and showed the ability to face-up and slash to the basket. She had a solid day for Team 5 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase and has a bright future ahead.     Ada is a versatile guard-wing who showed great potential at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase during games for Team 5. Her long frame, off-the-ball instincts to create open looks using smart, backdoor cuts, and ability to create space on the perimeter using effective retreat dribbles stood out. She's athletic and has the potential to be a very productive player at the high school level.
