The Best I’ve Seen: Hampton Roads’ Top Girls Player by Class

With the 2026–27 school year approaching, another season is almost here. Hampton Roads girls basketball is ready to tip off again soon.   Many players will enter the season looking to make their mark. They want attention from scouts and college coaches nationwide. However, several 757 players already stand out.In my short time scouting the area, I've seen elite talent. I've evaluated both established stars and rising prospects. Hampton Roads continues producing high-level players every season.   So, without further delay, here are the best girls basketball players I've personally seen by graduating class. This list reflects live-game evaluations only. That distinction is important here. It separates observation from projection.   This is not a national ranking or recruiting list. I am not claiming others are unworthy of discussion. Instead, this is based strictly on players I have evaluated in person.    Class of 2027 — [player_tooltip player_id='443350' first='Micah' last='Ojo']   With respect to the other rising seniors in Hampton Roads, this one isn't particularly close.   [player_tooltip player_id='443350' first='Micah' last='Ojo'] has separated herself from the rest of the class through production, consistency, and winning.   She has helped lead Princess Anne to three consecutive state championships and an incredible 91-game winning streak.   Ojo also strengthened her national profile with an outstanding performance for Team USA this summer.   Her combination of size, skill, athleticism, and defensive presence makes her one of the country's premier prospects.   College coaches across the country will continue competing for the opportunity to land her commitment.   Meanwhile, there is still unfinished business at Princess Anne.   The winning streak remains alive, and another state championship is there to defend.   A potential McDonald's All-American selection also sits on the horizon.   Until someone proves otherwise, Ojo remains Hampton Roads' most dominant player in the Class of 2027.     Class of 2028 — Lauryn Lorrits   With graduations and transfers reshaping Catholic, Lauryn Lorrits steps into a bigger role. She now has a chance to establish herself as the program's top player. Already, she ranks among Virginia's best 2028 prospects. Additionally, her national reputation continues to grow.   The smooth-moving left-hander impacts games without needing attention. She scores naturally within the offense and rarely forces action. Moreover, she finishes efficiently around the rim. She also attacks the glass and secures tough rebounds.   In addition, Lorrits consistently positions herself in the right spots. However, her basketball IQ stands out most. She reads plays early and anticipates movement. As a result, she is usually one step ahead.   That awareness often outweighs her physical tools alone. Furthermore, she contributes on both ends of the floor. She also elevates teammates through smart decision-making. Therefore, her overall impact extends beyond scoring.   Moving forward, she should grow into a key on-court leader for Catholic. With that development, her voice and presence will matter more. Ultimately, with Lorrits leading, Catholic should again make noise across Virginia.     Class of 2029 — [player_tooltip player_id='741652' first='Brianna' last='Norman']   As a freshman, [player_tooltip player_id='741652' first='Brianna' last='Norman'] showed natural point guard instincts. She consistently keeps teammates involved in the flow of the offense. Additionally, she knows when to create her own scoring opportunities.   Moreover, Norman is a relentless defender with strong on-ball pressure. She plays bigger than her size and competes with toughness. She applies full-court pressure from baseline to baseline.   In addition, she refuses to give opposing guards any space. Furthermore, Norman brings fearlessness when attacking the basket. She impacts games in multiple ways on both ends.   However, her rebounding stands out as an underrated strength. She battles bigger players for loose balls and rebounds. That toughness separates her from many guards her age.   Now, Norman transfers to defending state champion Manor for her sophomore year. There, she joins another elite guard in a strong backcourt. Ultimately, this move should elevate her profile in Virginia's Class of 2029.     [player_tooltip player_id='1253337' first='Amerie' last='Russell'] is an undersized but explosive point guard who handles the ball efficiently without relying on unnecessary dribbles. Her quick first step consistently creates opportunities to get downhill and put pressure on defenses. Once inside, Russell confidently attacks bigger defenders and can finish or find teammates for quality looks.   Additionally, she is a disciplined decision-maker who values possessions and rarely forces difficult plays. As a result, Russell can run an offense with efficiency, control, and poise. Defensively, her size can occasionally create challenges against stronger opponents. However, her speed and technique allow her to recover quickly and remain disruptive.   Moreover, Russell anticipates passing lanes well, creating turnovers and transition opportunities. Overall, Russell enters her freshman season with the tools to emerge among Virginia's top Class of 2030 guards.    From proven champions to emerging young stars, Hampton Roads is loaded with talent, and the next generation is just getting started.
