Most Valuable Players from the 695Hoops Family Reunion

The annual 695Hoops Family Reunion once again brought together many of the area's top girls basketball players for a day of competition, camaraderie, and celebration of the DMV game. The showcase featured four games spanning multiple age groups—from the Baby Ballers Game for rising seventh graders to the Middle School Showcase for rising eighth and ninth graders, followed by the Rising Sophomore vs. Rising Junior matchup or the High School Showdown 2028 vs 2029 and the always-competitive Rising Senior Game labeled The 2027 Challenge. Every player had the opportunity to shine, but a select few separated themselves from the pack. Each team honored one player as its Most Valuable Player, recognizing the performances that had the biggest impact on the day's action. Here are the MVPs from this year's 695Hoops Family Reunion.   High School Showdown 2028 vs 2029    Madyson wasted no time announcing her arrival, opening the game by scoring every point for her team before the first round of substitutions. Her explosive start immediately grabbed the attention of everyone in the gym as my phone quickly filled with texts asking, "Who is she?" and "What school does she play for?"   Despite being a rising sophomore competing against a team of rising juniors, Madyson played with complete confidence. Her explosive first step consistently blew by defenders, creating clean driving lanes to the basket, while her ability to knock down the three-pointer kept defenses from sagging off. The highlight of the day came when she split a double team before finishing with a spectacular reverse layup using her inside hand, a play that had her teammates jumping off the bench in celebration. She finished with 16 points and was the clear choice for the MVP award after one of the most electric performances of the showcase.     Qaidence controlled the paint with a combination of length, athleticism, and relentless effort, earning MVP honors for the Class of 2028 team. She was a force on the glass, pulling down seemingly every rebound within her reach and creating valuable second-chance opportunities with timely putbacks on the offensive end. Her activity around the basket consistently gave her team extra possessions and helped establish the tone inside.   Offensively, Qaidence displayed soft touch around the rim while also showing she can step away from the basket and knock down the mid-range jumper. Her versatility made her difficult to defend, as opponents had to respect both her interior game and developing face-up ability. She finished the day with 17 points and a pile of rebounds, turning in a dominant all-around performance that made her a deserving MVP selection.    The 2027 Challenge    Mya's return to the Baltimore area felt like a homecoming, and she made the most of it with an impressive performance in front of the local crowd after spending last season in Florida. While she took a little time to find her rhythm offensively, she quickly settled in and reminded everyone why she's regarded as one of the area's top talents.   Mya showcased her athleticism with several impressive finishes at the rim, elevating high enough to finish with the ball near the top of the square on the backboard. She also ran the floor with the speed and fluidity of a guard, consistently beating defenders in transition despite her size. By the final buzzer, she had worked her way to a team-high 14 points and walked away with the team MVP award, a fitting ending to a successful return home.     It felt like every time I looked up, London was putting the ball in the basket. She made the game look effortless, scoring from all three levels without ever forcing the action. Whether it was confidently stepping into a three-pointer, turning the corner around a double team to attack the rim, or using a well-timed jump stop to split the defense for a clean finish, she consistently found quality scoring opportunities.   What stood out most was her poise and efficiency. London never looked rushed, allowing the game to come to her while taking what the defense gave her. She finished with a team-high 17 points, putting together one of the smoothest offensive performances of the showcase and proving she can score in a variety of ways against quality competition.    Middle School Showcase    Nadya turned in one of the most complete performances of the showcase, earning Blue Team MVP honors after scoring 14 points while making her presence felt in virtually every phase of the game. Offensively, she displayed polished footwork in the post, finishing comfortably with either hand and showcasing an impressive variety of spins and post moves that kept defenders off balance.   Defensively, Nadya was just as impactful. She was active around the basket, blocking multiple shots, including a highlight-reel chase-out on a three-point attempt reminiscent of the type of recovery block made famous by Victor Wembanyama. She also generated steals that she converted into transition points, demonstrating her ability to change the game beyond scoring. Her versatility, defensive instincts, and polished post game made her a deserving choice for the Blue Team MVP.     Ryan put together one of the more entertaining performances of the day, finishing with 13 points while showcasing her athleticism on nearly every scoring opportunity. Whether attacking the rim through contact or stepping out to knock down a three-pointer, each basket seemed to energize the crowd with its degree of difficulty. She displayed excellent body control and toughness, consistently converting plays despite heavy defensive pressure.   Her impact wasn't limited to the offensive end. Ryan competed with the same intensity on defense, using her athleticism and effort to disrupt opposing players and make life difficult for ball handlers. It was a complete two-way performance that highlighted her ability to influence the game on both ends of the floor. Siyona Garrett earned Red Team MVP after leading all scorers with 15 points, showcasing an aggressive offensive mindset and the confidence to take over when her team needed a basket. On the Blue Team, Mykyllah Yancy claimed MVP honors with a steady all-around performance, finishing with 9 points while making a positive impact throughout the game. With both players still years away from high school, they gave an early glimpse of the talent that is already making its way through the DMV pipeline.
