The 2030 Class Rankings have finally hit the internet after months of evaluation by our scouts. After much deliberation and reflection, we have decided that these are the freshmen prospects we feel good about ranking right now. Based on current fundamental abilities, expected development by senior year, and height, length, athleticism, and size needed to play their projected position in college, these prospects all have a D1/D2+ or D2/D3+ rating heading into high school. The top two prospects each hold a D1 offer, which is why we chose to rank them first in this initial ranking. We ranked all 35 prospects based on multiple evaluations in different competitive environments. Every prospect who was ranked performed at a high level in front of our scouts against college-level talent, either at the PGH Freshman Showcase or at another showcase/AAU tournament in the past six months. What a prospect does or does not do against college-level talent matters when determining their college trajectory. There are prospects outside of the top 35 with the potential to break into the top ten, and movement is to be expected as observations and college offers increase over the years.

The Watch List includes prospects who have demonstrated college potential in front of our scouts at some point. There are high-level prospects we have not seen or have not seen enough to assign a ranking. The number of ranked prospects will increase every few months, and we are excited to see all of these girls make an immediate impact for their high school programs. Here are the girls we currently see as the top five 2030 prospects in Michigan. A thorough and detailed resource is linked below to explain everything you need to know about the rankings process. Remember, the rankings are a projection of someone's future collegiate potential, not a reflection of their current ability. These are not lists of who the most productive or skilled high school players in the state are going to be or are right now. Below are several freshman who I believe have a path, opportunity, and the skills necessary to end their first high school season on an All-Area or All-League list.

Rankings Explanation

Menominee lost in the Regionals last year against State Semifinalist Roscommon, finishing with a stout record of 18-7. They are a leading contender coming out of the UP to make a deep playoff push, and I'm picking them to win the Great Northern UP Conference. Their young and talented squad is adding a legit court general to the backcourt. Daly works hard to apply ball pressure on the perimeter, defends with her feet in an athletic stance, is aggressive, attacks with a burst off the dribble, impacts games as a facilitator, adds a three-point threat to the lineup, and has good ball-handling control. She's a point guard with the potential to be All-League in year one.

In short, Roniah has the talent and determined two-way aggressiveness necessary to be an immediate difference maker at the varsity level, which is why I won't be surprised to see her on an All-League list at the end of her first season. She's athletic, elusive with the ball in her hands, confident from three, an effective facilitator, causes havoc on the defensive end, and a dynamic downhill scorer. MLK has the potential to climb to the top of their league standings, and Roniah will be their X-factor on the court.

Colbie demonstrated the ability to impact games at the Freshman Showcase as a shooter, facilitator, and defender. At Michigan Athletic Club open gym earlier this week, it became crystal clear that Colbie has the talent to be an All-League player in year one at Oakland Christian. She has excellent balance, catches passes ready to shoot with her feet set, and fires accurate shots from beyond the arc with a lightning-quick release. Colbie stays loaded in her stance and generates power from her legs, which gives her deep range. She's bouncy, has a burst off the dribble, and her ball-handling control will keep defenders on their heels. Colbie will be an exciting playmaker to watch in the MIAC-Blue this winter and should draw attention from the opponent's top defenders.

Munising won 17 games a year ago and had their season end against eventual D4 state champion Ishpeming in the postseason. They will be a top contender coming out of the UP next March. The Mustangs are pairing a dynamic point guard prospect with Bowerman, and the two will wreak havoc on opponents this winter. Emma caught my attention at CMU Team Camp and followed with a showstopping performance against upperclassmen at the Yooper Hooper Showcase. She checks all the boxes: proficient/confident three-point shooter, sharp instincts on and off the ball on both ends of the court, outstanding passer/facilitator, slasher and effective finisher using either hand, extra burst off the dribble, aggressive defender, and plays with a high IQ. Emma is the highest-rated UP prospect in her class heading into her freshman season; she's earned it and has the potential to be an All-UP player in year one.

Layla put herself on my radar with a flashy performance for Sacred Heart at BCAM Reaching Higher, and she's a freshman I'm eager to see again. Sacred Heart went undefeated in their conference, ended the season with 19 wins, and lost a nail-biter in the playoffs to State Semifinalist Onekama. Adding Layla to the lineup could make the difference in the postseason. She has good length and athleticism, provides a three-point threat on the perimeter, slashes to the hoop with a burst on her drives, and finishes through contact. Layla is a candidate to not only be an immediate impact player, but could turn in an All-League caliber season.

Pinckney has a solid group of young prospects that give them plenty to be optimistic about. I'm expecting them to be very competitive in the SEC-White this winter. Katie came to the freshman showcase and demonstrated qualities that will make her an immediate impact player in the lineup. She has length/athleticism and versatility that will be difficult for opponents to match up against. Katie has a second gear and explosive first step that makes her very effective as a slasher. She attacks hard downhill, gets to the rim, goes up strong, and finishes through contact or gets to the free throw line.

Swan Valley is adding an exciting playmaker to their backcourt. Maeva is a shifty ball-handler with the extra burst to get by defenders and score off dribble penetration, and the accuracy from three to put points on the board in a hurry. She sees the floor well, delivers crisp passes in traffic when the defense commits to her dribble, and creates turnovers with her sharp instincts/quickness on the defensive end. Her accuracy from three and ability to shoot off the dribble or off the catch will give opponents trouble all season. Swan Valley will look to climb the TVC Red standings this season, and adding Maeva to their lineup will give them a great opportunity to do so.
