6-Footers at the EYG Skills Clinic

Size was definitely on display at this year's EYG Skills Clinic, with several players standing 6 feet or taller showing that they were much more than just interior players. Throughout the day, the group displayed a combination of size, athleticism, shooting, ballhandling, and versatility during the drills and competitive play. With nearly 150 players in the building, these 6-footers found ways to separate themselves and make their presence felt. Here are some of the bigger prospects who caught my attention at the EYG Skills Clinic.    Makayla looks like she has grown to close to 6'3” and continues to expand her game. She was knocking down three-pointers during the drill work with nice form and consistency. If the three-point shot is becoming a consistent part of her game, it adds another dimension to an already impressive skill set and significantly raises her long-term ceiling.   Makayla is strong and powerful, and from previous viewings, she has already shown the ability to put the ball on the floor and make plays off the dribble. Adding consistent perimeter shooting to her combination of size, strength, and skill gives her the tools to develop into a high-level prospect with potential beyond the college level. She should be one of the premier players in the DMV over the next few years.     Nina has exceptional skill for her size. She handles the ball like a guard and does a good job using her body to protect it when defenders apply pressure. She can also face up and create off the dribble, showing the ability to pull up and knock down the jumper. Nina rebounded the ball well and was comfortable starting the offense herself after securing the board. Her combination of size, ballhandling, rebounding, and perimeter skill gives her the versatility to play multiple positions and impact the game in a variety of ways.     Kennedy had some strong, powerful drives where she was able to muscle her way to the basket and finish. She is a physical player who didn't shy away from contact and consistently took advantage of smaller defenders when she had the opportunity. Her strength and aggressive approach allowed her to create space and finish through traffic around the rim. Kennedy is a player to keep an eye on as she continues to develop and looks to make her mark at the high school level.     Rhyan has all of the physical attributes of a major Division I post player. She spent the majority of her time roaming the perimeter, where she showed impressive range by knocking down several three-pointers. Her ability to stretch the floor adds another dimension to her game and makes her an intriguing matchup.   Defensively, Rhyan matched up well against the other post players whenever she worked her way into the paint. She has the size and physical tools to battle inside while also possessing the perimeter skill to play away from the basket.     Kyleigh was the most impressive player over six feet to me. Her overall effort and desire to get better were on display throughout the day and were hard not to notice. She challenged herself during the drills and made a point to work at every position station, showing that she wanted to expand her game beyond one role.   She was also great at encouraging her teammates and getting everyone involved. Her energy seemed contagious, as each group she worked with appeared to pick up its intensity another notch. Kyleigh's combination of size, skill, effort, and leadership made her one of the players who really stood out at the event.
