I am a big fan of [player_tooltip player_id='1671455' first='Kourtney' last='Lake'] and what she can do as an overall Guard. We saw a little bit of everything at the 1, 2, and 3 spots during this event coming down the floor out of Lake. She seems to be at her best and most comfortable playing off the ball as the 2 or 3 but she can handle well enough that whenever she is pressured, she can adapt to run her team's offensive system, whatever that may be in the given moment. Lake isn't the type that is killing her competition with flash and flare right now. She is doing it with fundamentals and hard work - two things that could take her places within this game with the right guidance as she moves forward.

Some lucky college is going to get [player_tooltip player_id='883553' first='Quinn' last='Pershing'] as their Shooting Guard in the near future and I'm excited to see who that college is going to be. Pershing is a dead eye shooter from deep. She is pretty good off both the bounce and catch in those moments but she really shines off the catch. We have seen that ability for a few years now at the Varsity level so this is no surprise to anyone that has been paying attention. I expect QP to hit some major shots over her next two seasons of Varsity play. She will be her team's starting SG and their starting PG is a future D1 player so I'm sure that combination is going to feed families, per se - over the next two years at the very least. We had a chance to see a little preview of that at this event. QP was making some deep buckets while being contested in both 3v3 and 5v5 action. Her movement into space when she was/is moving off the ball is impressive. It speaks to her knowledge of the game, which is already at that collegiate level and that knowledge will only grow deeper with experience.

[player_tooltip player_id='1883516' first='Marlee' last='Hill'] is one of the most promising 2031 prospects that the state of Iowa has to offer. She is the most athletic player out of this Class so far and that's only the tip of the iceberg. Right now Hill is that CG/SF, that can move between the 3 and 4 position. Her feel for the game combined with her athletic ability and balanced coordination makes her a tough guard for any individual matchup to stick in front of. There were a number of times that Hill crashed the boards on both sides of the ball, bringing in the rebound over 3 and 4 people in-between the blocks. It didn't matter if someone was trying to box her out or not. She was too athletic to handle and that was apparent at this event almost right away. My biggest advice for Hill moving into this Winter season is to become as efficient as possible within 7FT of the hoop. If she can do that, become a monster under the rim and then build things out from ther to the outside, she could have a the chance to compete at the D1 level some day.

You only have to watch [player_tooltip player_id='1900404' first='Ezra' last='Creighton'] compete for five minutes to be able to tell that she is a born leader. Someone that you can give the ball to as a coach and you can trust that she is going to make the right things happen on the hardwood. Creighton controls pace of play, she possesses a crispy handle with better than average vision so that she can attack whenever she is pressured, and she isn't afraid to mix it up physically with anyone that might stand in her way. She is all about contact and letting you know that she isn't going to let up. She is there to play and she will let you know about it with her actions. I'm not sure if Ezra gets the Varsity nod this Winter but I would think so. She is skilled enough and even if she doesn't see quality minutes it will help her grow up a lot quicker within this game with the ability to practice with those hoopers that are already in high school.

I have really enjoyed the confidence that [player_tooltip player_id='1216076' first='Makenna' last='Roeder'] competed with throughout this Showcase. Roeder, the 5'7 CG/SG/PG, took control at this event and brought the ball up as her team's main PG most of the time. From there she stayed on the attack on offense while getting into the middle of the lane a good amount of time. Once she got there, if she was overplayed - she would hit an open teammate with a simple pass for an easy look at a shot. If not, she wasn't afraid to take the attempt up herself and score it either. Defensively, she took things personal and did a great job of holding her matchups to limited numbers throughout. Roeder is going to be a big piece once again this Winter at Norwalk. A program that is going to have another great shot at making the State Tournament and even possibly winning it if they take care of buisness like they should.
