Just in time for Halloween, the inaugural 2030 watchlist just posted on Prep Girls Hoops Indiana. Typically, I like to have this completed sometime in mid to late June, and at the latest, sometime immediately after our PGH Freshman Showcase in September. But this year, I found it very difficult to put together as comprehensive and thorough of a list as I feel we've released today. Why? Well, when I looked through this class during the Spring and Summer, and I sat back this Fall and considered what I saw, it is talented and deep both, but there is a divide...at least for now. I always wanted to initially get 40 to 50 names out there, and 50 is what we landed on, but that in itself was a project. In my honest opinion, I felt like there were a dozen, maybe 15 "easy' selections based on their play, potential, and recruitment, so the class is strong at the top. In many years, there can be a major dropoff from player #5 to player #15. In this case, I didn't so much feel that way, as there are about 75 girls who were "competing" to fill about 35 to 38 spots within the watchlist. That "dropoff" I mentioned is much farther down the list. That's what made this so difficult. Did I miss someone? Oh, I'm sure I did. But we will continue to monitor the class as they start their high school careers next week and reissue an updated watchlist sometime shortly after Christmas Break. At that time, we will also expand and attempt to make the list even more valid, addressing those we might have omitted. In the meantime, please give the ladies who did make it the credit they deserve for all of their hard work.

Bryce is leading this pack of point guards early in their career, and she has spent the last calendar year accumulating Big Ten offer after Big Ten offer. She has good size, length, strength, and the ability at a young age to get through the paint, absorb contact, and finish shots. She has a good handle, good vision as well, plus she can knock down an open jumper consistently. I'm not sure she'll grow much more, but she has a lot of tools in her toolbox already, and she's just getting started.

I mentioned Harper on multiple occasions throughout the Summer, and she is deserving of it. She is tough, strong, and compact, she has the ball on a string, and she showcases a beautiful lefty stroke to beyond the 3-point line. She plays extremely hard with a lot of physicality for a younger guard, but that's what makes her stand out. She was so good in the 17U division at a tournament in mid-July, that D2 and NAIA coaches were inquiring about her because they thought she was a Junior.

Britt is a bit different than Webster or Scaringe. While she has a solid to strong frame, she is a smoother, more naturally fluid athlete. She makes a lot of things look effortless, from gliding to the rim to her perimeter jumper. I saw her a couple of times in July as well, and she did a really nice job of balancing between a point guard role, involving her teammates, and knocking down shots while aggressively looking to score the ball. This Winter, she'll team up with her 2028 sister [player_tooltip player_id='990044' first='Riley' last='Schellhammer'] at GCHS.

And if it's smaller, quicker point guards you enjoy, this class has those as well. Tatum is quick, fast, long, and wiry-strong. She has a no-nonsense competitive fire and just likes to get after it, no matter the competition level. After watching her with her club team, I saw her with Fishers in June and she was a standout. I think it will be tough to keep her out of the lineup throughout her career because she plays harder than everyone else. A November 7th matchup between her and [player_tooltip player_id='1855734' first='Harper' last='Scaringe'] should be entertaining.
