The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and the mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, with many clubs attending more than one tournament. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition. We've continued to evaluate prospects at elite camps, individual showcases, and fall leagues throughout August, September, and now into October. Our Freshman Showcase hit a new PR with 90+ participants, while The Expo also hit new highs for attendance with 100+ registrations.

After actively evaluating the 2028 prospects, we now have 387 players ranked and on the Watch List. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.

Based on data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class. However, this 2028 class is clearly going to be an outlier. The number of prospects rated as D1/D2+ and D2/D3+/NAIA+/JUCO+ is greater than the typical average, with the biggest increase happening with 20+ prospects rated D1/D2+ and 55+ prospects rated as D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+. The outcome of this surplus of talent/depth will hopefully mean more opportunities for these high school prospects to play impactful minutes at the best college level for them in Michigan, across the Midwest, and wherever they decide to go.

Kwynn seems to stand out every time I see her play. She was a Top Performer at the Zero Star Showcase in June and separated herself again at the Yooper Hooper Showcase in August. Her length, skill, and athleticism as a guard translate to the next level. Kwynn has a silky smooth shot from the perimeter, and her accuracy beyond the arc stood out at the showcases. She finishes efficiently around the basket with both hands and makes seamless transfers at full speed. Kwynn has good touch on her passes and sees the floor. Her length and aggressiveness disrupt opposing ball-handlers on the defensive end. L'Anse is a team with the potential to make a deep playoff push, and Kwynn will be a prospect to watch in their backcourt.

Kaiah turned in an impressive performance at Oakland Team Camp that caught my attention, then added an encore performance at The Compound Fall League in September. She's a dynamic downhill scorer. Kaiah can shift gears, change lanes, attack gaps, get to the rim, and finish crafty layups around the basket. Kaiah uses effective footwork in the paint to create scoring angles and puts points on the board in a hurry with her accuracy from three-point range off the dribble or the catch. She has sharp handles and keeps defenders on their heels with her pocket dribbles, hesitations, and crossover combinations. Kaiah is about to have a breakout junior year at Macomb Dakota and will be an exciting playmaker to watch in their backcourt.

Bree is a point guard who has all the fundamental tools you like to see on the offensive end: pinpoint accuracy from three-point range, good balance/footwork in the lane, excellent scoring touch in traffic, sharp ball-handling control/speed and ability to change hands with ease, tough, scrappy, competitive, plays with a high motor, and is effective as a facilitator. Bree applies the same focus and energy to drills as she does in the games. She works hard as a rebounder and pushes the tempo in transition to create fast-break scoring opportunities.
Antanique played a key role during Muskegon's State Championship run last March, and she will step into an even bigger role as a junior. She's a multidimensional guard who stuffs the stat sheet. Her facilitating, defensive prowess, sharp ball-handling control/quickness, and productive rebounding stood out at the PGH Michigan Expo. She has a second gear off the dribble that makes her very effective as a slasher, and Antanique makes defenses pay when they give her space to shoot the three. She holds an offer from Madonna University and will be an exciting playmaker to watch at Muskegon.

She's quick and has a compact frame that helps her finish tough shots through contact. Mia scores with a good touch around the basket, battles to secure rebounds, creates steals with her sharp instincts/aggressiveness on the defensive end, and contributes in every category to help the team be successful. Her complete performance at BCAM Reaching Higher stood out, and she'll be an important member of the lineup this winter.

Braelyn put herself on our radar during the travel season with Mystics Chosen. Her confidence and accuracy as a three-point shooter, dynamic ball-handling, aggressiveness, full-throttle effort, and ability to penetrate off the dribble made her a Top Performer. She turned in another impressive performance at the MAC Open Gym. Braelyn was an effective/active communicator on both ends of the court, demonstrated crafty footwork in the paint, was a threat from beyond the arc, made accurate passes to teammates, made an impact on the offensive glass, and finished layups efficiently with her right and left. Braelyn understands spacing and has keen awareness on both sides of the ball. She's a homeschool prospect who has a ton of potential as a next-level guard.
