The Headliners Invitational was designed to give players more than just another opportunity to compete in games. The event focused on helping prospects gain exposure to college coaches, work directly with coaches who could potentially recruit them and receive coverage from Prep Girls Hoops scouts. With every player bringing different strengths to the floor, the format provided several ways for them to showcase their abilities through skill-specific drills, 3v3 competition and 5v5 games. Each participant wore a numbered reversible jersey that matched the information provided to college coaches, making it easier for them to identify and evaluate players throughout the event. Programs from the Division II, Division III, NAIA, NCCAA and JUCO levels across Michigan, along with several from neighboring states, were invited to attend. Players also had time to connect with college coaches following their sessions. Another great addition this year was a shooting workout led by Make Shots trainer Mike Soukup, who worked with both the high school and middle school participants. The combination of instruction, competition and recruiting opportunities gave players multiple ways to display their skills throughout the day.

Naomi showcased a nice combination of scoring ability, ball handling and court vision while competing with Team Fever at the Headliners Invitational. During 3v3 competition, she showed her ability to create for others with some well-placed passes while also knocking down a couple of shots from behind the arc. Her offensive versatility continued into 5v5 action, where she displayed good handles and a crafty approach to finishing around the basket. She connected on a nice floater and made a smart drive-and-kick pass, demonstrating her ability to recognize when to attack and when to find an open teammate. One of my favorite plays came when Naomi secured a defensive rebound and immediately pushed the ball coast to coast, finishing with an impressive Euro step at the rim. Her ability to handle the basketball, change direction and create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates made her an exciting player to watch throughout the event.

Brinley displayed an impressive offensive skill set while competing with Team Fever at the Headliners Invitational, showing the ability to score in a variety of ways. During 3v3 competition, she used a nice spin move in the lane that was difficult for defenders to contain and also showed her touch with a smooth stop-and-pop jumper in the paint. Her scoring versatility carried over into 5v5 action, where she knocked down multiple three-pointers, connected on a pull-up jumper and converted several floaters around the basket. Brinley also showed her ability to attack off the dribble, making a strong slash to the rim for a finish. She was active on the offensive glass, securing multiple rebounds, including one where she drew a foul while attempting a putback. Defensively, she came away with a steal and immediately took the ball coast to coast, creating another scoring opportunity. What impressed me most was the variety in her offensive game, as she demonstrated the ability to score from the perimeter, in the mid-range and around the basket.

Natalie made an impact on both ends of the floor while competing with Team Fever at the Headliners Invitational, showing a nice combination of offensive awareness, rebounding and defensive instincts. Offensively, she displayed a good touch on her pull-up jumper and made an excellent backdoor cut, recognizing an opportunity to get behind the defense. Natalie was especially effective on the offensive glass, coming away with multiple rebounds and converting putbacks to give her team valuable second-chance points. I also liked the activity she brought defensively. She showed quick hands and good anticipation, consistently reading passing lanes and getting her hands on the basketball for deflections and steals. Her ability to disrupt passes helped create additional possessions for Team Fever. Between her work on the boards, smart movement without the ball and ability to make things happen defensively, Natalie contributed in several important areas throughout the event.

Braylee put together an impressive offensive performance while competing with Team Fever at the Headliners Invitational, showing her ability to create scoring opportunities from all three levels. During drills, she displayed a smooth pull-up jumper, giving an early look at her shooting ability. Once 5v5 competition began, Braylee showed off her quick first step and strong ball-handling skills, consistently getting downhill and putting pressure on the defense. She used a nice hesitation dribble to get past defenders and made an excellent move to the basket that ended with a beautiful Euro step finish. Braylee also demonstrated her ability to finish through contact, converting an and-one opportunity and getting to the free-throw line numerous times throughout the session. Her perimeter shooting was another impressive part of her game, as she knocked down several three-pointers. Defensively, she showed good hands and the ability to disrupt opposing ball handlers. What I really liked was how effectively Braylee combined her outside shooting with her ability to attack the rim, making her a difficult matchup for defenders.

Addison showed some nice offensive versatility while competing with Team Fever at the Headliners Invitational. She demonstrated her ability to score from the perimeter, knocking down a three-pointer and showing that she could be a threat from beyond the arc. Addison also displayed a willingness to attack the basket, making a strong rip-through move to get past her defender and work her way toward the rim. I liked how she recognized the opportunity to put the ball on the floor rather than settling for an outside shot. She also contributed on the offensive glass, coming away with rebounds that helped create additional scoring opportunities for her team. Her ability to stretch the floor, attack off the dribble and compete for second-chance possessions gave Team Fever contributions in several areas throughout the event.

Heidi showed a nice combination of shooting, playmaking and offensive creativity while competing with Team Fever at the Headliners Invitational. During 3v3 competition, she knocked down a three-pointer and demonstrated good court awareness with several well-placed passes. I particularly liked her decision-making in the pick-and-roll, where she recognized opportunities to get the basketball to her teammates and help create scoring chances. In 5v5 action, Heidi showed some nice touch around the basket, connecting on a left-handed floater. She also demonstrated her ability to attack the defense and draw contact, earning trips to the free-throw line. On the defensive end, Heidi displayed good hands, making it difficult for opponents to handle the basketball comfortably. Her ability to contribute as both a scorer and facilitator, along with the defensive effort she brought to the floor, gave Team Fever a well-rounded presence throughout the event.

Maggie used her length and versatility to make an impact offensively while competing with Team Fever at the Headliners Invitational. She showed the ability to stretch the floor, knocking down three-pointers from both the wing and the corner. Maggie was also effective when attacking off the dribble, making a strong rip-through move from the free-throw line to get downhill toward the basket. On another possession, she ripped baseline, drew two defenders and made a nice kick-out pass to create an opportunity for a teammate. I liked her ability to work around the basket as well. She did a good job sealing her defender to establish position, showed strong hands when catching the basketball in traffic and demonstrated the ability to finish with defenders around her. Maggie's combination of perimeter shooting, inside presence and willingness to make the extra pass gave her several ways to contribute to Team Fever's offense throughout the event.

She was active on the offensive glass, coming away with multiple rebounds and converting a couple of putbacks to give her team valuable second-chance points. I liked her willingness to work for position around the basket and stay involved in possessions even when the initial shot didn't fall. Chloe was equally effective on the defensive end, where she showed strength on the boards and did a nice job securing rebounds to finish defensive possessions. She also demonstrated good defensive discipline in the post, walling up against opposing players and making it difficult for them to get clean looks around the rim. Her ability to compete on both ends of the glass and provide a physical presence inside made her a valuable contributor for Team Fever throughout the event.
