[player_tooltip player_id='579893' first='Peyton' last='White'] has gotten off to a fantastic start to the season for Gainesville. What she did Monday was one of the more impressive performances in the area this week. Peyton had a triple-double with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 blocks. Gainesville won their two other games this week in lopsided blowouts. Peyton is playing as well as any big in the state on the defensive side of the ball, and she is a lock for 12-15 points a game.

[player_tooltip player_id='433880' first='Malia' last='Siriwardene'] is someone I expected to leap this year, and she's looked really good so far. She's a fantastic driver, and she is knocking down spot-up jumpers now. Against a good Edison team, Centreville had their way with them. [player_tooltip player_id='239387' first='Kennedy' last='Parrott'] didn't have a big game, but Malia, along with other contributions, was fantastic. She finished with 23 points in a blowout win for Edison.

Another Centreville player I was looking to leap this season was [player_tooltip player_id='719276' first='Claire' last='Kang']. Claire has cleaned up her game and looks like a reliable and natural PG. Claire's passing was tremendous against Edison, and it was why the offense ran so smoothly. Claire can shoot and attack the rim, and her games seem to have matured.

Heritage had an outstanding week, going 3-0 against 3 good teams. They have been a little bit of a surprise to me, and have been one of the most impressive teams in NOVA so far. I watched [player_tooltip player_id='985809' first='Alyssa' last='Stanford'] for the first time late this summer at the expo, and what stood out to me then is what stood out to me this week. Alyssa works hard on the glass and does great work finishing in the paint. Alyssa had 18 points in a win over Handley, then had a big 16-point 14 rebound double-double in a win over Chantilly.

[player_tooltip player_id='859625' first='Sheila' last='Suarez'] has had a great start to the year for Stone Bridge, and she is one half of an underrated backcourt duo Stone Bridge has. Sheila shoots the ball well and does a good job in transition off of turnovers. Sheila is an outstanding defender, and she had 9 steals to go with 26 points in a blowout win over Rock Ridge. Sheila had 18 points as well in another blowout win over Dominion.

Every good team needs a player like [player_tooltip player_id='816642' first='Zora' last='Burrell'] and she had a couple of outstanding performances this week for Potomac School. Zora had a big triple-double in a win over St. Andrews Episcopal with 11 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. Zora's commitment to the defensive end is always elite and she consistently makes the right play. Zora had a 12 points 15 rebound double-double in Potomac School's game against South Shore at the Capitol Invitational.

[player_tooltip player_id='633711' first='Sabrina' last='Anderson'] had two outstanding all-around games for Potomac School in both of their wins. She shot the ball well and did a great job finding her teammates. Sabrina had 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists against St. Andrew's, and then had a big day shooting from three against South Shore. Potomac School has a couple of games against some elite talent coming up, so I'm excited to see her play against other elite guards.
