The Nike Tournament of Champions, the premier High School Girls' Basketball tournament in the US, returned to Phoenix on December 18th and as usual, there was an incredible amount of talented teams and players representing just about every state. The Dan Wiley Division was very competitive and there was a tremendous amount of talented players that were able to showcase their ability against some of the top teams in the country. Skutt Catholic out of Omaha, Nebraska, won the Division Championship for the 2nd year in a row. On Day 1, they dismantled a pretty solid Mesa HS team out of Mesa, Arizona, by 40 points. Canyon View High School, the defending class 5A State Champions in Arizona, also impressed on Day 1, by beating Canyon HS, of California 69-42. Here are a few of the standouts from the first day of competition:

Day 1 Standouts Nike TOC:

[player_tooltip player_id='608450' first='Jaila' last='Flowers'] was dominant of the first day of the tournament scoring 28 points, grabbing several rebounds, and showing why she is one of the top prospects in the Arizona class of 2026.
