USE CODE "tinnon30" FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

Now, we are here for the big dance, the official February Frenzy tournament! Technically, I know in real time, and we are about to hit March, but as you all know, this is a pretend tournament highlighting key matchups as if all teams were in one big tournament. We will try and move along in this tournament as fast as possible while still covering the actual TSSAA tournament going on right now.

In today's February Frenzy match-ups, we head southeast to Lee University to showcase the Southeast quadrant of the tournament. Talk about some stout matchups that will be played right off the bat. Geez these, if played in real life, would be some tight ball games. Just a reminder, every game presented is done 4x with a coin flip.

Here are the matchups at Lee University in the Southeast Region.

Bradley Central vs.Bartlett

TSSAA state championship rematch, these teams seem to find each other at the end of the road every year. Bradley has won the ship the last couple of years, however, Bartlett brings a more balanced attack into the fold this year. This matchup will be one of the best first-round matchups ever, as these coaching staffs know each other well.

Player To Watch

The Arkansas signee is a dynamic guard who can fill it up. A 3-level scoring threat who is a tough competitor on both ends of the floor. In tournament time, she comes alive and is always willing and able to do whatever it takes to win a ballgame. She is a gamer who can consistently score from all over. Her defense is one of the most valuable attributes she possesses as she creates havoc that leads to easy buckets. Sensational talent that will be a solid foundational piece for the Lady Razorback program.

Father Ryan vs. Aloca

This game will be about execution. Both of these ball clubs run their stuff at a high efficiency. They hunt great shots and will beat you not only on their first option, but they counter and get you with their second and third option as well. Father Ryan has been in situations like these, but Alcoa brings a lot of talent and athleticism to the contest.

Player To Watch

Solid wing who contributes on both ends of the floor. Gwen can pick her poison and exploit the different defenses teams throw at her club. She can flash to the elbows and short corners and knock down shots, She is deadly in M2M situations as she can come off screens or receive open looks from kickouts. Even more important is her ability to crash the boards at its highest point, eliminating second-chance opportunities. Her game has grown over the years and this long-winged forward has made significant strides. Solid talent that is taking off.

Webb Bell-Buckle vs. Upperman

Talk about a fun matchup. Both teams are built differently, but the one characteristic they have that is similar is that they both are scrappy. Talented teams who win consistently both will fight tooth and nail to win a game. It will be very interesting to see who comes out on top.

Player To Watch

Only an 8th grader, this kid is making waves throughout the state. She is a shifty guard who can get to the rim with ease and knock down open shots from the floor. Her speed and quickness present a threat to opponents as she locks them up, getting tons of steals and deflections. She is a go-getter and someone who is always around the ball. A heady basketball player who has tons of athleticism.

York Institute vs. East Nashville

It will be a run-and-shoot match as each club can put up some points. The difference will be which one will be stopped first. Both clubs are dominant in their respective areas.

Player To Watch

She is on a comeback tour, and ever since she has been back, everything within the Lady Dragonettes program has turned up. The Iowa State signee is one of the top talents in the state, and she goes into each contest ready to dominate. She can score it in multiple ways but also understands and has an exceptional feel for the game. She is able to process things at a moment's notice, and when she doesn't have the advantage, she knows where the pressure is coming from and hits her open teammate. A vet in the game, this kid has been great since her freshman year.

Richland vs. Goodpasture

It's a great battle with tremendous athletes who can score the rock. Both have some young guards who can fill it up from the arc.

Player to Watch

The UVA-Wise signee has trusted the process and has grinded her way into being a solid prospect. A 3-level scoring threat who can get it done on the inside or the outside. Built with toughness, she knows how to utilize her body to exploit defenses. She is confident from afar, shooting from the arc at a high efficiency rate. She has been a big part of the show down there in Richland, and her hard work and work ethic have been felt throughout the program. A great talent who has been sensational throughout her career.

Moore Co. vs. Notre Dame

Public vs. Private matchup that the winner would have won the game on the inside. Be a defensive matchup with each team, slowing down what each other wants to run offensively.

Player To Watch

The Montreat College signee has battled back from adversity and has had a tremendous season. After injuring herself during her junior year, she recovered, got back to work, and grinded away in what has been a tremendous year. She has beat the odds and not only got back to her style of play but added more to her game. This Lady Irish kid plays with a motor and is active on both ends of the floor. A downhill threat who is strong and physical and is willing to go at whatever is in her way. Solid defensively, she gets steals and rebounds, helping win the possession for her ball club. Solid kid who has bounced back tremendously.

Cocke Co. vs. Northview Academy

Familiar foes who have seen Cocke Co. come out on top in their matchups this year. This is a true battle when these two teams take the court.

Player To Watch

Stretch 4 who is solid from the arc but makes her money in the paint and the high post area. She has transcended her game into something incredible. She is physical, gets after in multiple phases of the game, wins the rebounding war, blocks shots, and is just a tone setter for this club. Yes, she can score on the offensive end, but I love what she brings defensively to the table. Solid six-footer who continues to get better with each outing.

Coffee Co. vs. East Robertson

David vs. Goliath matchup that has sharpshooters from both schools. However, its about what can be done on the inside, and Coffee Co. has the advantage in that department.

Player To Watch

This solid Lady Red Raider is super tough. A heady ball player who can score it, facilitate it, run an offense efficiently, and score around the rim. She is solid defensively and is always in the right position to get a steal or deflection or be a part of a trap. She has speed that enables her to cover a lot of ground, especially on the defensive end. She doesn't get phased by being on the big stage or in big moments. She is a tough ballplayer who gets after it on every possession.

Now, let's let the games begin!
