Watch out for Eastern Hancock to be a top contender in Class 2A this year. They were already good a season ago with McKenzie Koch McKenzie Koch 5'9" | CG Eastern Hancock | 2027 State IN (2027) and Bella Sotelo Bella Sotelo 5'6" | CG Eastern Hancock | 2027 IN (2027) leading the way. Now, Rylee brings some size and strength, and she will help rebound and defend some inside. But she is a wing by nature, skilled with the ball in her hands, and she is an excellent perimeter shooter. She can push the ball in transition like a point forward, she can run off screens and find shots, but I anticipate a lot of Koch/Grinstead ball screen-and-pop situations for the Royals in 2026-2027 as well.

I had the opportunity to watch Rylee Grinstead Rylee Grinstead 5'11" | SF Eastern Hancock | 2030 IN play for the first time at the Charlie Hughes Shootout, and she immediately caught my attention. The Class of 2030 wing showcased an impressive combination of size, length, and skill that allows her to impact the game in a variety of ways.

Grinstead’s biggest strength was her ability to consistently shoot the basketball. She displayed a smooth shooting stroke and confidence from the perimeter, making defenses respect her as a scoring threat. Her length on the wing also allows her to shoot over defenders and create matchup problems, while her overall skill set gives her the versatility to contribute in multiple areas.

She has the tools to become an important offensive piece for Eastern Hancock. Her ability to stretch the floor, score efficiently, and continue developing her all-around game should make her a valuable addition to the Royals’ lineup. As she gains experience at the varsity level, Rylee is a young prospect with plenty of upside and one to keep an eye on in Indiana’s Class of 2030.

Eastern Hancock has always been a solid program, but the last few years it has risen to the forefront because of an influx of talent. Rylee should be able to add to their offensive power next season. She has height and length for a wing, and she looks to still be growing. She has a nice, natural feel for the game, touch from the perimeter, but also the ability to initiate the offense and find open teammates. Like any young prospect, as she finishes growing and gaining strength, her game will become even more consistent, but she can already be highly effective at a young age for the Lady Royals.
