The Class of 2022 stock risers came out to compete. Here are some of the guards who performed well throughout the season and was able to earn awards:

Ella is an athletic shooting guard who plays well on both ends of the ball and plays hard throughout the game. She is a knockdown shooter but can also put the ball on the floor and finish strong at the rim. Ella had 30 points, including 5 three-pointers in a season-ending Region 4D quarterfinals loss in overtime, earning 4D All-Region Second-Team honors. She has averaged about 12 points per game on the season.
Kennedy Scales – Salem – Guard
Kennedy is a guard who plays with confidence and intensity, being able to create on her on shots, shooting open shots or attacking the basket. She leads her team in scoring, averaging around 18 points per game, with a season-high of 28 points, including 2 three-pointers. Kennedy scored 21 points, including 1 three-pointer in Region 4D quarterfinals overtime win, earning 4D All-Region First-Team honors.
Karsyn Reed – Giles – Guard
Karsyn is a 5’8 guard who can really score, averaging 19.8 points per game and shooting 36% from the 3pt line. She uses her size to guard bigger players and cause smaller guards problems, scoring points in transition off of turnovers. Karsyn is able to score the ball from the inside and out, she had 14 points, including 2 three-pointers in a Region 2C quarterfinals loss to end her season, earning 2C All-Region First-Team honors.

Ally is a 5’8 guard who can control the pace of the game, setting her teammates up for easy buckets. She sees the floor really well and makes good passes to open players. Her intense defense puts pressure on other guards, causing them to turn the ball over and she is able to find the open players in transition. Ally scored 10 points in the 3D Regional Championship, helping her team advance to the state tournament.
Emilie McCaskill – William Byrd – Guard
Emilie is a shooting guard with high basketball IQ, being able to play the passing lanes on the defensive end, causing turnovers and easy transition points. She is a consistent shooter, shooting close to 36% from the 3pt line and averaging 13.6 points per game for the season. Emilie is a willing passer, seeing the floor well and knows how to move the ball to open players when she attacks the basket. She earned All-Blue Ridge District First Team and 3D All-Region Second-Team honors for the season.
