With the month of May coming to a close, so does the first half of this year's AAU season. The past four weeks have brought us some of the biggest events of the spring, including the State Prelims, AAU State Tournament, and the May NCAA live period event, Live at the Lakes. With each of those tournaments now behind us, we thought it might be a good time to take a look at a handful of prospects who really made their mark in recent weeks. All ranked prospects from different clubs, here are five players we watched in May that stole the show on more than one occasion.

Layton (banner photo above) put on multiple outstanding performances throughout the month of May. The [program_tooltip program_id='713021' first='West' last='Central United'] guard is explosive, crafty with the ball in her hands, and is constantly looking for ways to score. At Live at the Lakes Greta shot the ball at a high clip from the perimeter. Using her quick release and ability to get her feet set, she was able to knock down shots without needing much time or space. A true three-level scorer, the Big Lake 9th grader found openings at the rim just as easily. She scored 62 points on the weekend, coming in second in scoring in the 2029 Platinum Division. With her recent efforts paying dividends, Greta picked up her first Division 1 offer last week from North Dakota.

After averaging over 22 points per game in the high school season, the Holy Angels sophomore has continued that trend in AAU. Lima, a 5'10 combo guard, has been a scoring threat for Crossfire all spring, but really took things up a notch in May with 57 points at the AAU state tournament and 64 at Live at the Lakes. Smooth in her movements and effortless in her elevation, Allie can score from anywhere on the floor. She consistently hits shots from beyond the arc, and gets to the rim with an explosive burst of speed, often finishing through contact in the process. Add in her crafty handle on the ball and high energy defense, and Lima becomes one of the most exciting 2028s to watch.

Soash has been an instrumental piece for the [program_tooltip program_id='712665' first='Metro' last='Stars']' 2028 3SSB squad this spring. The high-IQ floor general has excelled at both facilitating the team's offense, as well as finding her own offense. With crafty footwork on the drive and the ball on a string, Brooke is at her best when scoring off the bounce. She was a top 10 scorer in division 1 at the AAU State tournament, finishing the weekend with 52 points in four games. On the other end of the floor, the Champlin Park sophomore is a hard-hat kind of player. Soash defends the ball with intensity and physicality, and consistently crashes the glass, relishing in the challenge of grabbing boards over much larger opponents.

A consistent leader for the [program_tooltip program_id='712699' first='Minnesota' last='Rise'] 2029 Schultz squad, Brustad has really taken her game up a notch or two in the past few weeks. The New Ulm freshman caught our eye at the State Prelims with her highly competitive, scrappy style of play. A true energy spark for her team, Leah makes hustle plays, closes the gaps on defense, and consistently outworks her opponents on both ends of the floor. With her length, ability to elevate over defenders, and a significant bounce in her step, Brustad has all the physical tools needed to succeed at the next level. Leah is a top 20 prospect in the PGH class of 2029, so don't be surprised if she makes some recruiting noise in the near future.

After a brief hiatus from AAU last year, the Hudson, Wisconsin standout is crossing the river to play for the [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] this spring. While she's typically a point guard, Mataczynski has taken on some off-ball duties for the 2028 UAA squad as of late. She's been successful from three-point range, knocking down catch-and-shoot opportunities from beyond the arc, but her playmaking ability has still shone through. Super smooth with the ball in her hands, Jadyn excels at finding her teammates on backdoor passes and cuts to the rim. The 5'8 guard also reads defenses effectively, exploding off the bounce to get to the basket when an opening presents itself.
