FL Sophomore ID Camp: Team 1 Review

The PGH Florida Sophomore ID Camp brought together a strong group of Class of 2029 prospects Sunday afternoon at Seminole Sports Academy in Longwood. Running from 3-7 p.m., the event gave sophomores from across Florida an opportunity to compete against one another and showcase their games in front of evaluators with college coaches leading the instructing.   With the Class of 2029 beginning to establish itself as one of the state's deeper classes with over 100 attendees present, the camp provided a valuable look at players making their mark early in their high school careers to see how they stack up. The afternoon featured competitive 3v3 action before transitioning into 5v5 play, giving players opportunities to display their individual skills, decision-making, versatility, and ability to impact winning on both ends of the floor. Here's a review of Team 1 who had a versatile mix of hoopers:    Khloe showed a strong all-around performance while serving as the primary point guard for her team. She closed out well defensively and consistently communicated on the defensive end from the get-go. Offensively, she knocked down a deep three and showed good pace in transition by using her body to keep a defender on her hip before delivering a terrific wraparound pass to a teammate with solid position. She also created for others with a drive-and-dish and showed a smooth 15-foot pull-up in transition. Khloe stepped up in a key moment by knocking down the game-winning free throw to seal their first 5v5 game as well.     Òpalo put together another strong showing at a Prep Girls Hoops showcase after standing out at the Freshman event last year. She showed a versatile offensive package with a 15-foot pull-up, a runner that she used the glass on, and a smooth three-point stroke backed by good mechanics and footwork. She attacked the baseline for a bucket and also drove into the paint before kicking out for an assist. Ò showed good shot creation as well when using her shot fake to get defenders in the air before attacking.     Jaslene made an early impact with her physicality and size around the basket. She established strong position in the paint and scored early against contact from defenders. Her size and frame also showed up on the glass as she consistently used her physical tools to compete for rebounds. She added a few big blocks to her afternoon as well.     Amelie brought energy to both ends of the floor and played with a consistent motor throughout the event. She came up with a steal and immediately pushed in transition to show her ability to advance the ball with either a pass or her dribble. She also showed good body control by stopping on a dime and rising into a pull-up jumper. This lefty guard proved herself to be a glue player and spark plug for her team at the showcase.     Lyric was active defensively and quickly turned her defensive plays into offense. She came up with steals, pushed the break, and ran the floor for some big transition buckets at the event. Lyric also knocked down a three on her very first 5v5 possession to set the tone. Her active hands and willingness to pressure the ball made an impact throughout her minutes at the showcase.     Ella made her presence felt defensively with two blocks, including one coming from behind in transition which showed her ability to stay with every play. She also showed creativity as a playmaker with a behind-the-back pass in transition and a nice jump-stop into a dish to her post player. Her shooting stroke looked smooth and she showed confidence picking up opponents full court defensively as well.     Cameron used her size and length to make an impact around the basket throughout the event. She came up with a big block that sent the ball out of play and then showed her ability to run the floor by getting out in transition and finishing at the rim. Cameron moved well and has the frame and skill to become a strong prospect in this 2029 class.     Isabella showed good awareness as a passer by finding her open shooters for clean looks. She handled the ball well in transition and did not shy away from physical play. Isabella also showed good footwork with a tough spin move into the lane before finishing with her left hand. Her feel for the game and ball control stood out at the showcase.     Maddie showed good passing ability with crisp deliveries throughout the afternoon. She moved well without the ball and used her length effectively on both ends. Maddie ran the floor well in transition and did a good job maintaining spacing once she got into the half court. She also communicated consistently on the defense end throughout the event.
