flashed her impressive athleticism early on at the SVSU MLK Classic on Monday. She drove hard in the paint, elevated, then transferred the ball midair to bank in a layup. Brax finished many hard drives inside and her efforts earned many free throw opportunities. She made an outstanding 11/12 from the line, hitting 11 straight, and had no trouble burying deep threes from up top and on the wing. Brax sprinted to save a ball going out of bounds then threw it off of an opponent to save possession. Her speed, length, toughness, and scoring ability showed why she will be playing college basketball next winter for Murray State.

The words “Miss Basketball final table” and “Braxcynn Baker” have come out of my mouth and I stand by it. She once again showed why last night in a Red Arrows win. She dropped 35 points in the game and seems to be eclipsing the 30 point mark pretty often. Baker is simply one of the top scorers in the state.

Honestly, Baker probably didn’t get the coverage that she deserved for her play this summer. She was getting buckets at a very high rate and percentage against some high quality competition. Baker is a name that shouldn’t be looked over when it comes to Miss Basketball talk. She had a Miss Basketball type of game in an overtime win against Caledonia last night. Baker scorched the nets scoring 37 if her team’s 51 points.

If you saw Baker play over grassroots season, you know exactly why her name is here. We all knew that she could score in a variety of ways, but she took it to another level this summer. She was so consistent and steady against high level competition.

Baker is a crafty guard who is strong with the ball in her hands. She scores at all three levels and defends at a high level. She should have a big senior season with crazy numbers once again. I think Lowell will make a deep run in the postseason this year with all their senior leadership.

Baker and her Lowell team had a tough draw facing Rockford in Districts, but they had a successful season, finishing 18-7. The Murray State commit was a 1st-team Associated Press All-State selection last season. She can fill the stat sheet on any given night, and could be in the running for Miss Basketball.

Baker has a chance to put up some huge video game like numbers next season. She did it already in grassroots season, so it seems like a strong possibility. For example, Baker averaged over 23 points per game at Run 4 The Roses this summer. She was also dominant at the UAA Finals. I’d expect that type of dominance to continue this winter.

Baker has been absolutely stellar this spring and summer. In all honesty, it’s become so normal for her to be great, that I think it gets overlooked at times. Well Baker showed out once again at the UAA Finals. Her jumper and overall ability to score are simply next level. Baker can snap off a jumper that’s so tough to defend, going from shooting pocket to bottom of the net before a defender can challenge it.

Baker was one of the most talented players at Run 4 The Roses. Period. She’s had a tremendous grassroots season and she kept that trend going over the weekend. Baker averaged 23.5 points per game in Kentucky. Her weekend was highlighted by an electric 36 point game. She went 7-9 from behind the arc in that contest.

Baker is such a smooth scoring guard. She can get buckets in so many ways that it makes her taxing to defend.
