About Lainee
Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
The normally sharpshooter couldn’t get her shot to fall from mid-range for much of the game, but she showed a lot of other ways she can impact the game. Her speed with the ball put pressure on the defense, she was a feisty rebounder, and played tough defense. Even when her shot wasn’t falling, she proved to be an engine that could drive action and pace for the Spartans.

The unquestioned leader and point guard for Sumner. Lainee returns after earning league 4A South Puget Sound MVP honors last season. She averaged over 22 points per game, and was a terror on both ends of the floor. She is quick, can handle the rock, and has the ability to create. She gets downhill using her speed and quickness, while also being a threat from three. In the mid-range she has the takent to create her own. She is excellent in the open floor and has a great basketball IQ, finding open teammates or getting all the way to the hoop about as quickly as any in the state.

She is the leader that makes Sumner go. She is a fiercely competitive player who gets after it for a full 32 minutes on both ends of the floor. She plays at a terrific pace and pushes continously, putting pressure on the defense. She has great downhill speed and quickness. She does a lot of damage getting to the rim but has a nice mid-range game and can shoot better than most. She will normally make a living at the free throw line with her attacking style. She will also cause problems with her on ball pressure defense. She is primed for a big season next year.

Lainee is a point guard by nature but with this team she often plays the two.

plays the point most of the time. It doesn’t matter, Lainee is showing off her game anywhere she plays. She did some notable things. She is a downhill threat always and that got her 10 free throws in one game. She also went to the left for the mid-range pull up from 15 feet. She made two of the three she tried and that adds to her offensive repertoire. She has great handles, as I said she is normally playing the point. She looks to be a good shooter, but doesn’t take many threes but that’s fine when you attempt 10 free throws. She is aggressive and quick on the defensive end. One of the best guards in the state of Washington. As are a couple of teammates.

A player who was missing in the last rankings.None by her fault. She is one of the top point guards in the Class of 2024. A tough player with quickness who attacks relentlessly. She averaged 23 points per game and earned league MVP honors this season as a junior. A rankings riser!

The 4A SPSL MVP this season, she led Sumner to the state tournament, losing to Gonzaga Prep in the round of 12. She is a relentless attacking guard with great ball-skills. She has a quick crossover dribble that she uses to get by the defense and is able to get all the way to the bucket or use her pull-up in the mid game. She was the unquestioned leader as the floor general at point guard for Sumner. She ended the season with a tough shooting night in the Dome but got them there with a 29 point performance vs Decatur. She is a future rankings riser.
