Bartels wasn’t far away from averaging a double-double last high school season and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she did this year. I know of at least 1 game last year in which she had 20 plus points and 20 plus rebounds. That’s a staggering accomplishment. Plus, it’s just the start of her game. Bartels is an excellent help defender with elite post footwork.
Highlights
The number by her name doesn’t do her game the justice that it deserves. Kyles is tall, long and athletic, making her a focal point of any opponents game planning. She’s slick sliding into position under the rim, but can also play with force and power. This allows Kyles to earn high percentage put back opportunities. She’s a terrific 2 way player that can set the tone defensively.
Tyler is committed to Kent State, and I’m sure that the Golden Flashes coaching staff is thrilled. She’s always carried a reputation as a terrific shot blocker and overall post defender. Tyler has made tremendous strides in her game over the last year or so though. She’s extended her shooting range making herself a true multilevel scorer and a force to be reckoned with on the offensive end as well.
Boyke was out much of last season with an injury, but the state of Michigan needs to be on notice that she’s back and ready to roll. Quite honestly, she could be a Miss Basketball finalist when it’s all said and done. Boyke has the ability to inside-out as well as outside-in, depending on matchups and situations. Her game really translates well to what coaches at the next level are looking for from their forwards.
As my loyal readers probably know, I’ve forever been a huge fan of Carson’s game and supporter of her growth and development as a player. I truly believe that the sky is the limit for this young lady. Very rare are the players with her combination of brute strength under the rim and her vision and passing ability on the perimeter. Carson has made some very big strides in her foot speed and footwork and those will serve her game greatly, both in high school and when she heads to Ohio State.
