The 2030 Freshman Showcase was loaded with talent that will be the new faces of future college recruiting boards at every level. This marquee showcase set a PGH Michigan record with 94 prospects registered for the event, marking our second straight year with 90+ freshmen taking the court. We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support of Prep Girls Hoops and our showcases by the Michigan community. Your support enables us to do what we love: evaluate and identify as many college prospects across the entire state, while providing the best coverage we can to as many players as possible. Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Every court was coached by college coaches, and they did a phenomenal job working with the players and providing feedback during the games. Let's talk about media exposure. There have been thousands of views of our live coverage on X and Instagram, and our post-event articles will be read by hundreds. Every participant receives a write-up in our articles, which is something unique and special about the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. My coverage focused primarily on teams 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. Here is a snapshot of strengths I noticed while watching prospects who competed for Team 6:

PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, Aug. 22, 2026.

PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, Aug. 22, 2026.

Gianna is a quick and scrappy point guard who's going to be an excellent addition to the Swan Valley program. She contributed to Team 6 in a variety of ways at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She showed the ability to score contested layups in traffic and, after sprinting the floor during the fast break, made a nice catch-and-finish transfer to her left for the finish. Gianna worked hard to get over the top of screens on the perimeter, moved quickly to apply pressure on the ball, and has good instincts in the gap.

Essie talks and points on the defensive end, immediately finds her girl when a shot goes up to box out, and has the ability to run the one spot or play off the ball. She's not afraid to pull it from beyond the arc and is a nuisance for opposing ball-handlers on the defensive end. Essie will be a two-way player at the high school level and a solid addition to the Plymouth program. She fit right in with Team 6 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Kardiar was a shifty and quick playmaker in the backcourt for Team 6 who looks ready to make an immediate splash at the high school level. She made unselfish one-more passes to create open shots for teammates and had no problem shaking defenders with her elusive handles to create space to drive. Kardiar avoided a defender with a fancy side-step in the lane to earn a trip to the line and knocked down the shot with confidence. She has an extra gear in the open court and switched hands comfortably, while pushing the tempo. Kardiar showed her strength by absorbing hard contact and finishing through it for the layup. She was active as a rebounder and will be an exciting guard to watch this winter.

Ava will be a productive player in the Yale program. She had a solid day for Team 6 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. Ava contributed as a rebounder, showed confidence as a three-point threat, and slashed to the basket to cause a foul, sinking the free throw with confidence at the line. She runs the floor well in transition and keeps her hands active on the defensive end.

Natalia is a guard joining the Macomb Dakota program who looks ready to have a productive high school career. She'll give them a poised ball-handler in the backcourt. Natalia showed her touch in the paint by sinking a soft floater and got her hands on the ball to force a miss on the defensive end. She escaped pressure using behind-the-back snaps and crossover combinations, and chased down rebounds. Natalia facilitated effectively and showed off her range by sinking a deep wing three off the hop. She gave Team 6 a spark at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Roniah was a defensive stopper for Team 6 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. Her complete impact on the court and gritty effort caught my attention. She made plays consistently that helped the team compete. Roniah has sharp instincts on the defensive end; her quick hands, perimeter pressure, and anticipation created multiple steals and deflections. Roniah showed off her athleticism by jumping up to block a shot in the paint, and she stayed active on the glass. Roniah keeps her head up as she slashes to the basket and distributes the ball to open teammates when the defense commits to her dribble. She handled the ball confidently in the open court, finished layups, and converted a tough, over-the-shoulder reverse layup in traffic. Roniah buried a triple at the top of the key off a screen after patiently creating space with her crossovers. She will be a playmaker at MLK to watch this winter.

Ovid-Elsie has another promising freshman joining the ranks. Trinadee was solid for Team 6 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. Trinadee is a dual-threat scorer. She attacked off the dribble, got to the doorstep, and finished with expertise on a soft turnaround jumper. Trinadee ripped by off the catch and went up strong to score a contested layup. She has confidence and range to shoot the three and scored a smooth reverse layup before the help could rotate. Trinadee showed a next-play mentality after firing a three by immediately hustling back to force a travel violation in transition. She's going to be a productive player for the Marauders and a great addition to their program.

Nyla separated herself as a defender, rebounder, and great team player at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She communicated actively on the court with teammates and showed great sportsmanship by helping up an opponent. Nyla never stops working, and that's what makes her such an impactful player in the frontcourt. She calls out switches, has the lateral foot speed to defend on the perimeter, and keeps herself in prime position to swat shots without fouling. Nyla moved her feet and timed up multiple shots, adding a ferocious block that echoed across the gym. She secured many rebounds and set strong screens to free up guards. Nyla is very effective in the pick-and-roll. Greenhills is getting an immediate impact forward, and she's going to make the program better on day one. Strong performance from the strong forward during 3v3 and games for Team 6.

Julia looks like one of the top guards in this class. She has good length, athleticism, a non-stop motor, sees the floor, fights through screens, sees ball and man on defense, has a deadly shot from beyond the arc, and advanced fundamentals for her age. Julia was expected to stand out at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, and that's exactly what she did with Team 6. Her highlights included plays in every phase. She caught a pass with soft hands for a quick finish off a smooth transfer, scored a strong and-one bucket through contact, and completed the three-point play at the line. Julia buried a triple from the wing and knocked down another off the bounce from the slot. She showed her wheels in the open court after snagging a defensive rebound and took it coast-to-coast for a 94-foot finish. Julia showed her sharp instincts on the defensive end and poked the ball away for a steal. She knocked down a pull-up jumper from the elbow and demonstrated poise with the ball, not forcing the issue, and waiting for the right moment to attack on the offensive end. Freeland is going to be a force in Division Two this winter with plenty of firepower in their backcourt.
