I’m going to give you a list of standout players from 3 games at the event. The games include Lowell victory against Midland Dow, a Butler Prep victory against Arbor Prep, and a Bolingbrooke win against Westfield Prep.
Check out Part 1 below!
After watching her on Saturday, I’m comfortable saying that Risdon has upped her game another level. She showed a really slick spin move over her left shoulder with her back to the basket. Risdon was able to get athletic with the ball in her hands. An example of this was a baseline take to the rim with a pretty finish. Risdon even showed 3 point range on her jumper.

Kolnitys has a ton of upside as a player and prospect. She handles the ball very well, especially for a freshman. Kolnitys appeared to be very coachable and in tune with what was expected. She used a jab step to create space a couple of times and that had the look of an aspect of her game that she can make very dangerous.
Walton was electric at the Best of Michigan Holiday Classic. She was at her best when attacking the defense and making plays with the ball. Walton repeatedly put defenders on her hip, got to the lane or the rim, and drew fouls. She had a really pretty scoop and score in the 2nd half that was almost impossible to guard. Walton was big in big moments against Arbor Prep, like when she buried 2 free throws to up the lead to 7 points.
Let’s start with her defense. Marshall has been an ace on that end of the floor for years now. It’s been her staple and she was strong defensively again on Saturday. Marshall put a lot of pressure on the ball and forced turnovers, with at least 1 of them leading directly to points. She looked much improved as a shooter in the game, hitting multiple 3 pointers and showing confidence in her jumper.
Williams came to play and was a factor from the opening tip against Westfield Prep. Her combination of strength and athleticism was on display early in the game. Williams attacked the rim off the bounce twice in the first few minutes of the game, scoring on both and using that strength to finish through contact and draw a foul. She went to the line throughout the game and was active on the glass.
