Kayla played her best on the brightest stage. In the semifinals, she was dialed in from beyond the arc, draining three triples for the Martians. She penetrated off the dribble and made a great wrap-around pass inside for an assist. Kayla side-stepped a defender to score a crafty layup and chased down a ball-handler from behind to cause a turnover. She led the team with 17 points and added four rebounds. In the State Finals, Kayla paced the Martians’ offensive attack once again. Her precision from the perimeter continued as Kayla ripped the nets with a game-high four three pointers. She blew by the defender with a dribble burst after a hesi, then finished with a smooth inside hand layup. Kayla scored a strong drive-by and-one bucket, then tacked on the free throw. She created space with a spin, changed hands in the lane, and accelerated downhill for another layup. Kayla led Goodrich to a State Finals victory with 21 points and three assists. She is the D2 All-Breslin Team MVP.

Kayla makes a multidimensional impact on the court, and she had another solid outing for Goodrich during their win on Thursday. Kayla’s pesky ball-pressure generated many steals on the defensive end, and she used a variety of crossovers and spin dribbles to continuously penetrate the defense. Kayla scored off backdoor cuts and drive-by layups. She swished a smooth three-pointer in the corner and threw quick, strong passes to open teammates. Kayla poured in 10 points for the Martians.

Kayla was effective in every category for Goodrich at the LBI Mitten Opening–she’ll be a stat stuffer again this season. Kayla caused turnovers with her pesky ball-pressure, distributed passes to open teammates, and created space using quick dribble combinations. She’s a dual-threat playmaker who penetrates gaps, makes great kick-out passes, and drops in floaters. Kayla drilled a three-pointer in the slot and helped the Martians have a very successful day.

Kayla was a key leader for Goodrich last season, standing out as one of the most complete guards in Division 2. The Northwood commit may be 5-foot-2, but she plays with tremendous heart and intensity, impacting every part of the game. She averaged 12 points per contest to lead her team in scoring while also contributing 3.6 assists, three steals, and 3.3 rebounds per game. Kayla’s ability to step up in big moments was on full display when she poured in 23 points to lift Goodrich to its third consecutive regional championship. With her poise, speed, and basketball IQ, she’ll look to help guide the Martians on another deep postseason run in her senior year.

Kayla turned in a dominant performance for Goodrich at the Swartz Creek Summer League. She came out guns blazing to start the day, burying two triples right from the get-go. Kayla used a quick crossover dribble to turn the corner and score a straight-line drive layup. She scored an and-one layup plus the free throw, a left-handed layup off the dribble, and blew past defenders to score another layup. Kayla chased down offensive rebounds and picked pockets for many steals. She is an exciting guard to watch and could be in the conversation for Miss Basketball on a Goodrich team that is a D2 title contender this season.

Kayla was locked in from the beginning of the Regional Finals against Haslett. She drained two triples and scored a strong and-one layup to give Goodrich nine points in the first three minutes of the first quarter. Kayla created steals, pursued offensive rebounds, knocked down free throws, set up teammates, and buried two more triples in the second half. She took a charge with 27 seconds left, which allowed Goodrich to seal the win on their next possession. Kayla led the team with 23 points and played her best in the biggest game of the season.

Goodrich finished undefeated in the Flint Metro League again this season (10-0) and Kayla was a major contributor to their success. She averaged 11.3 points (53% EFG, 47% FG, 28% 3PT) 3.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game. Kayla led the Martians to a 50-19 win against Linden in the championship game with 25 points and seven steals. Kayla produced a double-double against Dow with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and added four steals. She dropped 16 points against Swartz Creek and 17 points with four assists against Flushing. The Martians secured quality wins versus Midland Dow, Cass City, and Grand Blanc. Kayla’s twitchy handles, active defense, and perimeter shooting make her a handful for opponents. She will be joining Northwood University after graduation.
