Lily Sabers
About Lily
Expert Analysis
Grant McGinnis | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Though she plays in the shadow of the Greenway sisters, Sabers is carving out a name for herself at Providence. The 5’5 junior is a true point guard with excellent court vision, effective playmaking, and a reliable jump shot. Sabers can create off the dribble, knock down step-backs, and finish at the rim through contact. She has also improved significantly on the defensive end. As Providence shifts toward a more guard-driven offense with the graduation of Hope Counts (Lipscomb University) Sabers is poised for a bigger role. Her confident shooting, unselfish style, and ability to run the show if needed make her a valuable piece with college potential.

Sabers is a true point guard with the type of shooting ability and playmaking instincts coaches love. Lily had a good day on Sunday. She was able to create her own shot and score on step-back jumpers, and showed her ability to finish at the rim. Her court vision and passing are excellent, and she is a smooth shooter with consistent form. Lily’s defensive game has clearly improved. At Providence she plays behind the Greenway sisters, which obviously makes it hard to get on the floor. This winter there’s should be more minutes available and Sabers is poised to take advantage.
