Jenks was a fun squad to watch and Head Coach Will Seymour was nice enough to email me a roster. Here is a look at the players who stood out to me when I watched them last week.
Head Coach: Will Seymour
Last Season: 14-11 (Lost in Area round to Choctaw, 53-49)
Potential Starters:
I always write “potential starters” above this part of the team preview because I don’t want to presume what any Head Coach is going to do. I don’t want to say “should be starters” or anything like that. But, I mean, Jill should be starting. Any games she plays in, the Division-I commit (Rice) is the most athletic player on the court. She is ready, willing, and able to shoot it from anywhere and can rise up above anyone to score it. As the years have gone by, she has only gotten more confident in her incredible abilities and the No. 2-ranked player in her class and No. 1-ranked player at her position is the focal point for this Jenks Trojans squad on offense and defense. Head Coach Will Seymour is very lucky to have her for her senior year.
Addi is always a standout when I see her at AAU tourneys or scrimmages like this and as the years have gone by, she has only gotten better and better. She is tall and long and can absolutely shoot the lights out. What really impressed me at this particular scrimmage was her ability to guard positions one through five. She has the size to handle any four or five down low, but she has plenty of speed and lateral quickness to handle a one out at the top of the arc. Not only does she have the ability, she shows the willingness to defend and there isn’t a college coach out there that doesn’t want a long, tall defender on their team who can hit a big three when they need one.
I wrote about Amirah a while back as a senior who needs to be getting way more attention than she is and all of that skill was on display again at these scrimmages. She stood out initially (when I didn’t exactly remember who she was) for her shooting. I was like, “Oh, there’s a nice Small Forward with good size that can shoot it.” Then I saw her start throwing some one-handed passes around to back door cutters and handling the ball with ease and I was like, “Oh, she’s a guard with really good size, I guess?” Then she bodied someone off the ball down low and grabbed a rebound and I was like, “wait, I’ve written about her!” Amirah is a big-time prospect who can do a lot of things very well and she is an important part of this Jenks Trojans squad.
Other Players:
Addie Van Gilder Addie Van Gilder 5'5" | SG Jenks | 2026 State OK | 5-5 SG | 2026 – Addie is an outstanding spot-up shooter and does a great job finding position off the ball to hit her shot.
Winnie Zhang | 5-4 PG | 2024 – Winnie provides senior leadership, tough on-ball defense, and confident shooting when called upon.
Jayda Sykes Jayda Sykes 5'8" Jenks | 2027 OK | 5-7 CG | 2027 – Freshman combo guard has a very high basketball IQ and a ton of natural athleticism.
